Take Solace is an indie rock band based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin playing a breed of music involving guitars, banjo, mandolin, toy pianos and occasional brass. You might be able to call it alternative-bluefolk-jam-rock. We play mostly original indie music, along with various covers to fill up set time.

Take Solace has recently cemented themselves as one of the Milwaukee indie rock scene's most blazingly dynamic & potent bands. Battling depressing club scenes with an iron banjo and wahhed out guit-tar-o, the original 35 members was worn down to just 3 over a four month fasting period (with breaks for single-malt scotch and clove cigarettes).

Overlapping experiences from the unexplored regions of Door County and the pumping intellectual furnace of Waukesha called Carroll College, a uniquely fortuitous sound was consummated in Hymen-Breakers studios of 4th floor South Bergstrom. Many seasons later, the sound has devolved and, with the help of the uncanny David K. and soulful Dave P., become something near seraphim excretion. But alas, Take Solace has found that the seeds of bluegrassfolkrock are best sown in the deepest bowels of Wisconsin where one can order an Old Fashion and not be handed drain cleaner. Praise the purists and progressives, the Take Solace sound is in the transcendental now and if we can make an old couple in the corner dance, we will abide and agree that it is good.
