Tamara Blue is completely vulnerable on stage. Willingly sharing every
part of her life, nothing is off limits. She has facilitated poetry
workshops to at-risk youth in Los Angeles for seven years. She
featured on the 5th season of Russell Simmons presents Def Poetry on
HBO. Tamara was the 2005 and 2006 Los Angeles Grand slam champion. In
Johanesburg,South Africa, she participated in the Grams Town National
Theater Festival. Also a documentary, I Am Women, chronicled Tamara
experince while in South Africa. She featured in the award winning
documentary Sp!t. As the host and producer of a ladies night poetry
showcase/open mic, she uses her poetry as away of blessing the lives
of all who hear or see her words. Tamara is a real friend, sister,
guidance counselor and a mentor. Her words inspire life encourage
progression and stay with you when the leave the room or take out the
CD.
College shows include Everett, Olympia, in Washington UCLA , USC and
CSULA. Tamara has also hosted and aired on local and national radio
stations KPFK, KJLH, KKBT and KCRW. Rejoies in your blessings

I know the Freedom Through Music project will break the glass for Poetry
and Spoken Word Artists everywhere. It will bring Poetry to the living
rooms of people all across the country and over seas. This album will
change how people view Poetry and Spoken Word and will be set as the
Genre of a new generation. Volume #1 set the foundation of our
organization. Volume # 2 opened doors and took Poetry Over Music
Internationally. Volume #3 broke records and caught the attention of
people everywhere stirring a Poetry uprising.
The way I came
up with Freedom Through Music, is I envisioned the essence of Spoken
Word and Poetry and what it can be. As a fan of Poetry, I understand
the power poets have with their words. Poets have the power to talk to
a young girl who is on drugs and make a difference in that girls life.
Poetry and Music has the power to change all of our lives. It will open
your mind and heart to something new. My definition of a poet is
someone who speaks the truth. A Poet writes from there soul, free from
hooks and gimmicks. A Poet is Free. That's how I came up with, Freedom
through Music...
