About Tapes

Jukka Salminen is finnish singer/songwriter and Tapes is his alter ego. Tapes started when Jukka moved to England on Autumn 2002 to continue his studies on photography. There he started to play acoustic guitar and make songs. A first Tapes was about beautiful songs played with an acoustic (nylon) guitar. Songs were usually quite specific documents about certain moment or feeling. Most songs are quite short and fragile and have some kind of photographic content. Tapes has released a debut album on January 2006. It is simply named Tapes. Second Tapes album "Aloha!" is to be released in September 2008. There is some major changes in the music and how it is performed. Jukka plays still all the instruments himself except drums are banged by his little brother Tommi. So the album is a bit BIGGER and it sounds BETTER!! Pepe Trouble from Tigerbombs has recorded most of the album in his Bughouse-studio. Album is produced with a help from Samae Koskinen, Jukka's friend and colleague. Jukka also plays guitar in Samae's band and organ/stuff in Tigerbombs. The album also contains a duet with musician and artist Ville Pirinen. The track is called "Lemmy" and it contains a full length guitar and drum solo. Buy the album and be amazed.
