..

The Tara Project was initially an idea thought up by Graham Martin and Jondix over a couple of emails, just chewing the fat about stuff that was wrong and how to fix it and they came up with the inkling of an idea (excuse the pun). It grew from that very quickly until it became what it is now. What is it now? A group of 60+ artists from the UK, Europe and around the world have agreed to do a piece of art depicting, in their own style, an image from the Tibetan pantheon. Called the Tara project because the idea was to have pictures of Tara but the artist list grew a little to large to have only Tara. The aim is to raise a substantial amount of money from the sale/auction of these paintings for the Free Tibet campaign. The paintings shall be on display at various venues around the globe and at various conventions where people can place bids on the ones they like, the highest bidder gets the painting. It’s quite simple really. Two books shall be produced from the paintings, a limited edition copy with prints, and a soft-bound book, these too, shall be on sale, all proceeds go to the campaign, all paintings are donated and no one takes a penny for any contribution made to this project, a little bit of good karma helps the world go around. It’s ‘gonna be interesting and fun, and most of all, we get to give a little back. Artists that have so far confirmed participation include Sabine Gaffron, Wido de Marval, Aaron Bell, Jondix, Rinzing, Daniel Albrigo, Jeff Gogue, Matthew Amey, Alex Binnie, Dawni, Gerry Carnelly, and many more.

if you are interested in finding out more then go to freetibet.org to see what we are trying to do. You can donate directly to them if you wish or buy their merchandise.

SECOND EDITION NOW AVAILABLE

The second edition of the Tara Art Project book is now available here.

The second edition contains two artworks missing from the original book, and extended background on Tibet section. It's available as a print on demand book, so copies are printed and shipped straight from the printers. All profits go into Free Tibet's campaigning.

A big thanks again to everybody who took part in the project; their work quite literally keeps Tibetan art and culture alive in the Twenty First Century!

Who I'd like to meet:

Anyone who wants to help with this project, anyone who wants to buy art from the project. the Chinese head of state, the IOC and of course the Dalai Lama.
