02.05.07 The Sonic Sedition
At the ~~SS~~, we listen to and review a ton of music everyday. Even though we are one of the few stations playing unsigned or indie bands, most never make it on the air. It’s not that we are anything special, but our listeners are! They know what they want!
Case in point Tarsha. We have seen it all come and go and it takes a lot to impress the gang here at the ~~SS~~. Enter: IMPRESSED! Tarsha is one of those gifts from the Rock Gods that, when you hear it, you just know the Gods are throwing up the old horns right in your face. Crank it to 11, and if you still don’t get it, you need to grab your Ipod and go back to listening to whatever crap is on it ;+)
Like we said, we have seen and heard it all, and the impeccable attention to detail that Tarsha exhibits is rare. Sonic brilliance is rare, and so is real talent, both of which are in abundance here! Tarsha is what the ~~SS~~ is all about. Thanks Tarsha for giving us... PROPHECIES!
In a world where life is defined by the "Yin" and the "Yang" of one's existence, Tarsha has had a lot of "Yin" which he's compartmentalized and used to drive his now burgeoning creative outpouring. An early decision was made that the only end goal to Tarsha's life would be creating music to be heard by the masses. It was a hard road, but Tarsha worked on his craft daily, writing music, playing it all himself, and never doing anything that wasn't focused on "making it".
In 2003 Tarsha entered and won the largest Karaoke singing competition in the US. He performed live on the nationally syndicated 'Mark and Brian' radio show and shortly thereafter signed to Union Recording Group (URG) a subsidiary of Columbia Records. Tarsha recorded his first EP entitled TARSHA. Despite an extremely positive response from the label, the recording went unreleased due to an untimely merger between Sony and BMG. Still, in 2005 Tarsha submitted the songs to Billboard, Independent Music Awards, and International Songwriting Competition and won 7 prestigious songwriting awards for his efforts. Throughout it all, Tarsha continued to harness his talent and keep working toward his dream.
In 2007 Tarsha poured all of his creative energy into his first full length album PROPHECIES. The energy and outpouring of ideas was fast and furious. Not only did Tarsha write all the songs, he played all the music, recorded it, packaged it, and made each and every phone call to get people to listen. Tarsha keyed himself into a budding new audience of music lovers - Internet Radio. Within only a few weeks, hundreds of Internet radio stations were playing Tarsha's music and PROPHECIES became a worldwide Internet Radio hit; charting in the Rock Top 30 on the Internet charts for well over a year on the strength of it's powerful music, catchy melodies and
"real emotion" that was captured.
Tarsha immediately returned to the studio and repeated his creative outpouring with a second full-length album. Again writing, singing, and playing all the instruments, the results were undeniable. DIVINE UNIVERSE was proof positive that Tarsha is not only a gifted musician, but one of the best artists ever at harnessing the pain from one's soul and exorcising those demons in bursts of creative genius.
With an abundance of excellent material and a rapidly growing fanbase, Tarsha sought out to assemble a band that could bring his musical vision to life. In October 2008, Tarsha met and joined forces with drummer Darren Edwards. Edwards had previously toured the US, Europe, and Japan, and his powerful drumming instantly provided the solid foundation Tarsha needed. In search of a guitarist, Edwards suggested Brian Marshak for the position. Marshak was a perfect match and brilliantly infused Tarsha's rhythms with his own original style.
After rehearsing together for several months and playing a half dozen shows in the LA area, they recruited bassist Sean McNabb and entered the studio with producer Rich Mouser to re-record the 3 standout tracks from the previous albums. In June of 2009, the new recording was completed and mastered at Capitol Records.
We're finally promoting our fist CD! Total brazilian thrash metal with a death accent.
As it is self financed and released, we're unable to distribute it outside Brazil. But now we're selling our mp3 at iTunes, e-Music and Amazon MP3. Check out our profile to the links.
