1986: TassNata entered our planet a libra in midst of an anti-disco backlash, during which '80s music would be characterized by the widespread use of synthesizers and keyboards. MTV was birthed , and with it came many great influences and many awful. Nintendo was created, computers became no longer a toy for hobbyists but rather an industry, and of course TassNata’s biggest vice today; HIPHOP. However amongst all of these influential creations, no musical genres stood greater to TassNata than Rock and Roll, Blues and Soul. Records which dated him by up to thirty years such as: BB King, Muddy Waters, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Black Sabbath to name a few. “ When I was growing up I just figured I would become the most famous rock star or singer in the world.” It wasn’t like I was dreaming either, I just knew.” “ My Dad used to sit me down and play his collection for me, but the difference was he would always stop the record so he could explain the lyrics.”
It wasn’t until around 1993 when being driven by his friends’ older brother that he was introduced to the Juice crew via dubbed cassette that he became obsessed with Hip Hop. After that day he started bugging the older kids at school to make him tapes, and started following his favorite artists like Big L, Kool G Rap, Jay – Z, Biggie Smalls, BDP, and the list is ever- expanding. “ I loved how I could relate beats to other music I’d heard before, I loved the sound – effects and adlibs, but what I loved most was the fact I was a kid in a very average Canadian community, and I could listen to mad descriptive stories about things I only seen in movies before." "I could learn how kids grew up in other places un – censored and from their own mouths”. “Hip hop to me was both very humbling, and welcoming because it gave me a better understanding of how large this world is, and at the same time it showed me that people share very similar problems/ points of view no matter what environment they might be in.”
TassNata only began recording music at age 16 but has proven it a natural skill as he has rapidly increased his fan base and his network of colleagues. Since beginning his career TassNata has had the opportunity to perform alongside many great artists such as: Classified, DL Incognito, Maestro, Choclair, Masta Ace, Wordsworth, Obie Trice, The Game, Bone Thugs n Harmony, Daz and Kurupt, Kardinal Offishal, Too Short, and more.
His New Album titled “Between Planets” is set to be released on iTunes and select stores early 2010 and promises to be his best work yet. The record features his Newest Radio single “Remember” with Detroit mainstay Black Milk (FatBeats) and Promise (DuckDownRecords). The album also features Elzhi of Slum Village, Masta Ace, and Adam Bomb of Empire.
