Haha, i was with you there, but you got me curious... so i looked it up on dictionary. com and it means the same as:bad-tempered, crabbed, cranky, cross, disagreeable, fretful, grouchy, grumpy, irascible, irritable, nasty, and peevish. which mean: can·tan·ker·ous adj. Ill-tempered and quarrelsome; disagreeable: disliked her cantankerous landlord. Difficult to handle: "had to use liquid helium, which is supercold, costly and cantankerous" (Boston Globe).
