The rise of TAZUMAL began in 2000 with the three founding members. Atonal Mictlan, Vocals,Bass, Guitars and main composer... Camazotz Mexicayotl drums... Necali Ehecatl Guitarist, Back-up Vocals... In May of 2004 TAZUMAL's newest member joined the band... Tizoc Atlachinoli, Guitarist & Composer... On July 14th 2005 Tizoc played his last show with the band, TAZUMAL has moved on as a trio, the way we originally started. Recently member Necali was "fired" from the band for personal and musical issues, leaving the band as a duo, until finally the Camazots & Atonal parted ways which left the band dead...but dreaming.... Half a year went by and through endless support Atonal finally gained the drive to hunt for new warriors to embrace the spirit. Through a local Southern California supporter, Moshking.com, Atonal answered the call of local drummer Francisco Zamudio who also wanted to make heard the Drums of War. He was looking forward to getting back to playing Death Metal & taking the beast by the horns. After a couple of months of training, Atonal enlisted Bassist Gerardo Garcia. Both had played in several local bands but nothing like the monster that is TAZUMAL. The Second Coming of TAZUMAL had been invoked & the warriors began to take their place. With Drummer Xolotl & Bassist Ocelotl (as dubbed by Atonal), this 3-piece was ready to devour the scene once again. After getting their feet wet with a few shows, Atonal felt there was one final piece that needed to be filled. In December some musicians decided to get together to pay homage to Dimebag Darrell. Ocelotl knew someone who could meet the requirements for lead guitar. Disgustin’ Dustin Leos helped us in honoring brother Dime, and it was from there on Disgustin’ Dustin was welcomed to the Sacred Circle. After playing many shows the new line up decided to do a cover song from Sepultura's Arise for Metal Jam, a fund raiser organization due to a little mix up Ahalpuh was having problems trying to get in for the lead guitar part, also we got booked to play out of state and Ahalpuh could not make it so we so mananged to call on an ex-member to fill in Temporarily Tizoc Atlachioli who learned Arise and who knew most of our material already. But once in we realized that as 5 piece band we could do a lot more since Atonal would be just singing, so it was decided that Tizoc Atlchinoli would remain in the band. TAZUMAL is; Atonal Micltan(WaterSun of the UnderWorld) – Vocal Xolotl(Guide of the Dead) – Drums Ocelotl(The Jaguar) – Bass Ahalpuh(The Pus Lord) – Lead Guitar/rhythm Tizoc Atlchinoli(lord of rain and storm,sword and shield) lead guitar/rhythm, after a while Ahalpu left the band so he could start his own thing and soon there after so did Xolotl, who was actually replaced by the original drummer Camazotz Mexicayotl(mexica warrior, bat) now putting Atonal Mictlan in lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Ocelotl on bass, and Tizoc Atlachinoli in rhythm/ leads. Becoming a 4 piece. TAZUMAL has shared the stage with many of the influences that makes METAL what it is today. Bands like CANNIBAL CORPSE, SUFFOCATION, BRUJERIA, DEICIDE, EXODUS, NAPALM DEATH & KREATOR and played with countless more!
