Teerader started out as a fake Industrial/Noise band, created by Jonas Ström. The first few tracks were composed using Fasttracker 2 which was Jonas - or Noceur as he called himself when "tracking" - main venue for composing back then.
Introduced to Cubase in high-school, he quickly started utilizing midi and audio (The free VST plug-in Ninja was a favourite) and the new tracks featured improved sound and samples.
About a year after Teerader's creation, famous musician Björn Larson and bohemian Anders Bergström joined the band. Sir Bergström was not to create any material, but Björn contributed vocals and some direction to one track. The cooperation between Björn and Jonas would instead turn into Haagel (with its commercial hit cover of Dire Straits - So Far Away).
Teerader had long ago turned from a joke fake band to something more serious and once Jonas was the sole member again he used Teerader as an alternative to his Noceur. The songs put under the Teerader lable were the more experimental ones, specifically: They were not metal, country or synthpop.
The first collection of tracks (released as a home made CD for friends) was Totes Maschine Steigen (TMS). The tracks were made before joining with Anders Bergström and Björn Larson. It was a mix of Fasttracker2 and midi and heavy on samples (Everything from Deer Hunter and Mr. T to Star Trek: The next Generation).
After the Björn/Anders period, Jonas composed several songs using the naming convetion of X.Y, where X = Word of emotion or decay/loss and Y = Word of decay/loss or Emotion. Example: Beloved.Ceased. This was something that Björn and Jonas had used for the track they made together.
Some of these songs, including a few of the TMS ones, were included in an album, again released to friends and home made: Best of Teerader (BOT). These songs featured no samples, but had many analogue instruments and vocals such as hand drums, chants and screams performed by Jonas. One song of note had "featuring Noceur" in the title, an obvious joke, but the song did include guitars and actual vocals (i.e singing)... clearly the turf of Noceur.
Teerader/Jonas Ström has now moved away from Virtual Instruments and owns a KORG Radias and a VIRUS TI. With this, he hopes to include more live played electronic parts and move Teerader into more organic soil.
