When Tess was a child she wanted to be a pianist, until she discovered that she was a natural born singer at age 12 that is! About four and a half years ago she decided to fully commit to a singing career. She comes from a family where music and the aesthetic side have always played a big part of everyday life. Her brother is a rock pianist and teacher, her mother a former artist and model and her father was a touring musician for about twelve years and after that worked for the major record companies in Sweden for thirty-six years.
But Tess has ALWAYS wanted to make it on her own, not use her father’s contacts in the music business. And that is exactly what she did! She was discovered in 2006 by songwriter Richard Evenlind in the DLX Music store in Stockholm where she often went with her friends. Richard entered the store and heard someone sing and play in the back of the store. He found the voice highly interesting, walked further inside and was chocked to see that such a voice could come from such a short, slender girl.
They started talking and quickly realised that they shared the same view of the music business and liked the same kind of music. It immediately became obvious that they would work together; it was not to be some lame, thirteen-to-the-dozen music, no dumb blonde stuff, but cool, honest lyrics that carries a message, supported by real, guitar-based music inspired by the likes of Avril Lavigne, Kelly Clarksson and Sheryl Crow.
So you better grab a hold of something solid and hang on tight!
