Tetrafusion is an experimental/progressive metal band based out of Shreveport, Louisiana. After releasing their debut album “Absolute Zero” in February of 2009, the band has already begun to garner global acclaim from rave reviews, press, and new fans worldwide. While the band is currently in the studio (CHECK THE STUDIO BLOG!) to record their sophomore album as of August 2009, plans for vocalist Gary Tubbs (also the group’s keyboardist) have quickly taken shape. Choosing not to have used a vocalist for their debut record, Tetrafusion forced listeners to direct their attention to the music rather than on the lyrics, where it should ultimately be focused. Although soon introducing lyrics to current and future listeners alike, the music itself will continue to remain as the primary focus in all future endeavors. While continuing to hone and polish their style as a result of sheer musical innovation, Tetrafusion promises to stay true to their home in the progressive genre in all future and upcoming material. Expect the new album in early to mid 2010!
Press Release for ABSOLUTE ZERO:
"Offering a new insight on music today, "Absolute Zero" is an instrumental concept album depicting the birth, life, and death of the universe from a cosmological standpoint. As opposed to a concept album based around a story or plot within the lyrics, "Absolute Zero" offers its concept through the melodies and rhythms instead. Wound together by a blend of melodic metal and technical rock, the upcoming progressive rockers have showcased their musical talent in their endeavors to offer an innovative, fresh experience via the form of modern instrumental music. With tightly woven melodies, precise rhythmic contortions, and re-occurring motifs, the band offers their greatest and latest work of art as a true testament to systematic musicianship. The full, detailed album concept can be found at the band's MySpace page as a recent blog entry."
History:
Tetrafusion was formed in October of 2006 when Gary Tubbs, Mark Michell, and J.C. Bryant had a strong desire to form a small side project trio playing jazz and slow jam music in their hometown of Shreveport, Louisiana.
During the first rehearsal of this newly formed side project, the first riff written is what became the intro riff for "Inertia". Prior to their formation, bassist Mark Michell was a member of another local artist by the name of Altered State, an alternative rock influenced trio with guitarist Paul Turner and drummer Brooks Tarkington, who had also played guitar. Keeping in touch with Brooks long after Altered State had disbanded, the two had tossed around the idea of adding a guitarist into their side project. After sending the early demos of "Inertia" his way, Brooks was quite impressed and offered to fulfill guitar duties to become the group's official guitarist.
Thus, Tetrafusion was formed. Becoming more innovative in their music, the band had a change of mind and decided to become a progressive metal/experimental band. They continued to write music in the months following, played several local shows, and self-produced a low-quality demo until they were able to finance professional recordings.
A year later, they were finally ready to record their newly written material, and tapped QueenSix Productions to professionally record and produce their first full-length album "Absolute Zero", an instrumental concept album depicting the birth, life, and death of the universe. After releasing their debut record in February of 2009, the band worked endlessly to promote the record, receiving critical acclaim from many popular music review websites, blogs, webzines, and press magazines such as Rock Hard, Progression, and Decibel. After touring throughout the south during June of 2009, the band focused on writing their new album, and has begun recording as of August 2009.
