Spade Cooley,Faron Young, Roy Acuff, Lefty Frizzel, Ernest Tubb, Flat and Scruggs, Bill Monroe, Hank Williams, John Denver, Ray Price, Charley Pride, Randy Travis, George Strait, and George Jones to name just a few. I am also really influenced by the great songwriters that have contributed so many great songs to these artists and the many others like them.
Thad Foster grew up near a hot little desert town near an Indian Reservation in Arizona. A line from one of his songs says " Moved to the city in my youth, never looked back, never knew I missed it. But now I'm a man and I long to go back, take me back to those towns with their big Oak Trees, Take me back to the good ole country!"
He explains what he misses about a simpler life away from the city. "Many people think that Country Music is all about pick up trucks, drinking beer, and double wide trailers! Not true! Country Music is about the real America. The America that the people living in the big cities never see. The people that grow the food and are the backbone of the American Economy. Plain honest folks that look out for each other in time of need and reach out to others when they are hurting, or maybe they lend a shoulder to their neighbor to lean on. Hard work, discipline, self discovery, and the same determination that the pioneers of this land had that enabled them to settle it and tame it. To me, that's what Country Music is all about."
