Some days I wish there wasn't so much great music in the world... all those styles and feels, it's overwhelming. But that would be a foolish thing to think, cause that's what makes me tick really.
I started out with soul music and that's my first love and will always be, i'm a soulboy at heart forever. Then after gradually getting into boogie, funk & disco, hip hop & beats and cratediggin naturally soon followed. It took me a while to get into electronic music and when I did, it was through the more soulful & jazzed-out styles of house music (like i guess for most people who've been heavily influenced by soul music). I still want my soul & boogie records on wax (hard to find digitally anyhow)!
i've been running my first recordlabel (NINE2FIVE recordings, now known as 925) since 1999 with my boys djs Dizzy & Goose, when we started to put out electronic music of all sorts, from house to broken beat to future disco. 20 records and many fun gigs after i found myself more and more interested in ghettostyles, to take things back to their bare essentials. While also my intrerest in all world music styles had been growing, it was a quite normal to harden the fuck up.
Since 2005 we've been doing our record label meets clubnight slash movement TOP BILLIN with the club kings Fiskars & Flipperi, putting out bmore/juke/electro tracks and remixes and travelling the world playing records. In May 2008 we even toured Canada with M.I.A. We always have a fully packed club night ,where you can play whatever you like as long as you do it with style. We're not looking for producers with current hits to play there, but people with experience and crowd control, beacuse we got the best crowd in the world! Honest.
For Top Billin i've been producing tunes as GOOD AS GOLD, with my friend Marked Man working on bmore/juke/ghettohouse tracks and right now i'm working on some more bass-fuelled stuff as SHARKSLAYER, with my bro DJ Pushups. We've done Top Billin/ Sharkslayer remixes for Tittsworth, Scottie B, Trouble & Bass and Mad Decent and so on, and we've got a lot of stuff coming out on various labels as well as on Top Billin. So keep your eyes peeled, we don't play around. Support us and buy the vinyl + mp3.
Rest of my time I spend reading books and watching horror movies.
