The 7th Circle Band, from the whereabouts of Lisbon and founded in the first half of 2005, was raised by the hand of Tiago Alves (guitar), David Rodrigues (guitar) and Igor Freitas (voice), joined later by Hélio Freitas (drums) and José Ribeiro (bass) to complete the quintet. The idealized formation was finally together, and ready to give shape to this ambitious project.
Inspired by Dante Alighieri‘s Divine Comedy, the name was conceived based on this ideology, where the seventh circle represents violence practiced by mankind either on itself and against god, it’s nature and those who surround it. A theme metaphorically present on the lyrics, characterizing the band’s vision of life, society and the world.
In a group where each element differs in their personal taste, it’s in the musical expression that the fusion of experiences and ideals finds its peak. Following a Metal sonority, the band gave its first steps entering a phase of composition, looking to find solid songs, with unique melodies, riffs and lyrics, defining the essence and value of The 7th Circle.
Across the writing process, around the beginning of 2006, the band gave a few live shows as a way of getting public feedback on the songs composed so far. In 2007 the group decided to record a Promotional CD as a way of showing their work and establish a link between the band and their listeners.
It was then that the studio work as initiated and the songs “Man-Made God”, “Secrets of a Visionary”, “The Dawn Of The Day” and “Arsenium Morale” were recorded. After a long process of reproduction of the recorded songs, the negotiations regarding the production of the CD are concluded.
In the beginning of 2008 the band receives the Promotional CDs. It’s around this time that the band also finishes their compositions.
In the beginning of 2009 the band split ways with Igor Freitas (it was a friendly agreement), and along came Tânia Cruz, taking the role of lead vocals.
The whole band is currently improving the songs, and writing new ones, to match the power found in the new lineup of The 7th Circle.
