I am deeply saddened and mourn the loss of the samurai, it has been a long lost friend and now what happens to the metal and underground bands? It was nice to have at least one place in Eugene supporting metal. I shutter to think what will happen now? I just want to say to all my family and friends who worked there that I am really sorry to see it go and hope that this opens up a new future and dreams for all of you! You all are really good people and deserve the best and the Samurai was more than just a "bar" to me, just like you were more than just friends to me....you were all family. My love to you all and best wishes, and Steph you rock!
I have decided to dedicate the majority of my time to recording and selling albums. Currently I am on a Cassette kick, and everything that I am self releasing, or releasing on the label I own and operate (Kapustin Yar Records) is now on Tape. Prices will remain as low as possible on said products, because Tapes are for die hard collectors or Cassette enthusiasts only these days. The majority of albums I release on other labels, which is a larger and larger number month by month, are still being released on CD. That being said, I have recently recorded for The Persona Series (albums for individuals, named after their purchaser, with the owner retaining all rights and receiving 2 mini posters for $10 postage paid), which has been very successful. I have recorded a 90 minute Cassette, High Above The Horizon, which is available for $4 postage paid, and The Blood Album Part 2 for $4 postage paid. Please help me to continue pumping out these and other albums by ordering these crazy Tapes today!!!
My new full lengths Die Nibelungen Part 2 - Death of a Hero (Satanica Records, New Zealand), Biomechanical Psychomantium (Mooncult Productions, Australia) and Hashasheen Part 3 (Thorn Laceration Records, United Kingdom) will soon be available, check these labels sites for release dates! Thanks for your time, and sorry for the excessive self promotion :)
I was so sad to hear the news. Robert ,Misako, Steph, and the rest of the crew always treated me like family. Truly love you guys and will miss you all.
Good bye to the most awesome bar and venue ever... I will always remember every badass show ScrapYard Swag ever played here, badass because of you and everyone who rocked out, worked our sound, fed us alcohol... I spent my 21st birthday here drinking AMF's and spitting everywhere... I've watched my sister's firedancing skills improve over the years on that stage, I've stirred up the mosh pit, blown my hearing out for days, pissed in the men's bathroom, puked in the womens', gotten hit on, gotten rejected, beat up George, braided Wes's hair, never bought a rose, carved a hypercube into the table, talked about Carl Sagan with whoever would listen, made a fool of myself, rocked that stage, drank habu shots with my bros... oh, I'll miss those habu shots... Lesson here? Life's too short to stay at home and mope. Let's all support our favorite places before they're all gone... and keep in touch with eachother, as the people was what made this place special, not the pool tables or the stools or the illegal smoking area... oh god, so sappy. Love you always!
