Norma is a creative arena. Traditionalists would label it a band, but as we see it there is no reason to keep within such boundaries. Our songs often end up hitting
the eight minute mark, and lack the normal pop-structure. This is the only way we know how to make music. We produce ourselves. We collaborate with people we like, trying to connect our music to visual art in different forms. We are curious.
Norma was formed in 2005 in Stockholm, Sweden. After just six months they split up due to a dispute. Another six months later they decided to try again, and soon found themselves creating various noises in a musty shelter a couple of floors below street level in central Stockholm. As the instruments started to rust, the music also became more primitive, groove-based and monotonous. This led up to the recording of the ep "1", which was released on the label Novoton in May 2007. After setting up an art exhibition to accompany the ep, they headed to a small cabin in the woods north of Stockholm with a car full of instruments and cheap German box-wine. The first step towards the making of their debut album. A process that took little more then a year, and was more difficult then they had ever expected. “Book of Norma” will be out on Novoton/NONS the 12th of November 2008.
Det blev en hektisk festivalsommar i år igen. Joyzines redaktion besökte sammanlagt 11 svenska festivaler, recenserade 148 konserter och gjorde en mängd intervjuer. Nu är det dags att samla allt det goda på ett och samma ställe:
fräsigt att vi spelar på samma klubb i freiburg med en veckas mellanrum...! :) nästan lite synd att det inte är samma kväll kan man tycka. det får bli en annan gång.
