One boy creating dreamy songs of love and loss. Listening to The Arctic Flow is like watching old home movies on a rainy day, or putting on the headphones with the lights out and letting yourself drift back to someplace familiar, yet strangely new. For fans of Slowdive, The Cocteau Twins, The Smiths, Map, The Cure, the Shoegaze movement and effects pedals.
The basic sound of The Arctic Flow is a dreamy soundscape: sometimes blissful, sometimes sad, but always melodic with a heartache you have felt before.

NEWS AND UPDATES
Welcome to November. Thanks to all at Radio Shadowplay for naming The Arctic Flow their October artist of the month. Thanks to all of you for voting for "Breathe". We ended up at number 2 for the month
NEW RELEASE
- Our new release comes out on December 11. We are such procrastinators, we don't even have a title. But these will be mostly new songs. Some have been posted in previous months in demo form. This new release will showcase a more song-based approach, with clean reverbed guitars, chorused-out guitars, tremelo, etc. We will be bound to the earth temporarily with this guitar pop release. We'll be in flight again on the next album.
HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS
- The Arctic Flow is taking part in the first ever Holiday Records Christmas Compliation. This release will showcase Holiday artists and friends covering traditional Christmas songs and original wintery type songs. Look for this release December 4 from Holiday Records http://www.holidayrecords.net

1. "Flowing guitar, floating atmosphere-everything is in there with this project by Brian Hancheck from South Carolina. The winter can come!"
-from a review from Coast Is Clear
2. "The first thing that came to my mind when I heard "I Saw The Silver Sun" were the films of Greg Araki. It is 1995 and you see dream sequences and ultra violence in hazy, slow motion."
-from a review of I Saw The Silver Sun from Bleep Spook
3. "In 'Breathe' you really feel that you're under a blazing sun in a clear pool to swim to the surface...far beyond the earth's stratosphere...Replace Simon Scott of Slowdive with a drum machine and you get something that sounds like The Arctic Flow."
-from Bleek Spook
4. "The music of The Arctic Flow can be described as a symbiosis of The Cocteau Twins and Slowdive...'Breathe' takes you on a journey to the sky-as a glider-and you are looking from there back to earth-and suddenly all your problems seem less important. This song envelopes you in an awesome soundscape-pending and smooth as cotton-and takes you from the loud and hectic real world to a state of zero gravity."
-from the Artist Of The Month enrty at Radio Shadowplay
5. "The whole mood will be underlined by the warm and sometimes melancholic voice of Brian Hancheck."
-from Radio Shadowplay
6. "Songs veer from ethereal beauty to pop delicacies, while maintaining a dream-like quality."
from The Dumbing of America
7. "Perfect melodies, distorted guitars and plenty of effects and a clear sense of half time to perform songs pulling something languid, but with enough energy and lyricism that make them interesting
"'Sentiments and Artifacts' is a beautiful song that evokes feelings lost amid a blur of guitars-I read somewhere that he recorded 7 tracks of guitars, but at no time sound asphyxiating or cloying."
"'December Morning' is more dirty and guitar driven, but retains the pattern of overall beauty."
-from The Jangle Box
8. "The Arctic Flow is from South Carolina, but could be from Iceland or the North Pole."
-from Floga Se

Thanks Brian! Yeah, this song kind of demanded a low registar from me... I didn't even realize it 'till I had to do the vocals- and believe me- I KNOW I'm not the best vocalist in the world!!! But I try. All in all, I'm okay with it. I could sit and pick apart all the little imperfections, but what use is that. That's why I'm taking my sweet time on my debut album- so it will sound perfect! Can't wait to hear your stuff!!!!!
Aaahhhh Mannn..... I want to be part of your online release on the 11th, but I'll be at work. This sucks, but my thoughts will be with you on that day my friend!

HA! Tell her I've been wondering the same thing!! I saw this statue online years ago, and I thought it looked so cool. I have no idea where it is, it's meaning/symbolism, or who created it. I can only hope it wasn't constructed under negative influences (which I doubt). I receive only positive feedback from it, so I choose it to visually represent Isles of Kin for now. Hopefully someone will one day recognize it and let me know about it's origin?
i'm sorry for the time it took me to reply to your very nice and so kind Comment. i'm glad you had a cool moment with these tracks and i'm about to go on your Profile asap because i'm missing to listen to yours. until soon take care my friend, much love and respect to you François.
