| About The Artist Life - New Blog Up Now! |
The Artist Life have quickly become one of Canada’s most notable musical acts.
Described in Exclaim! as "one of the year's finest contributions to Canada's melodic punk community", The Artist Life dropped “Let’s Start A Riot” with Canadian power-house indie Underground Operations in October 2008. “Let’s Start A Riot” has gained widespread media acclaim for its catchy hooks, lyrical optimism and fist-pumping anthems.
Since its release, 102.1 The Edge offered them their second FU Award nomination, this time for Song of the Year, Japan's Boundee Records signed on for a Japanese release, MTV Live witnessed a raucous studio performance and Chartattack.com raved after their sold-out CMW appearance.
After a year of steady touring, the band released “Let’s Start A Campfire”; a digital EP that showcases the songs from LSAR in their stripped-down, most honest acoustic interpretations. Without any electronic flourishes, the undeniable songwriting that made LSAR such a success is genuinely able to shine. This sparked the release of a bright red, 180g vinyl with "Let's Start A Riot" on Side A and "Let's Start A Campfire" on Side B (released in November on Underground Operations). The vinyl release coincided with the airing of TAL’s second Much Music video from the EP, “Let’s Start A Riot” (directed by Jason Mewes).
After concluding 2009 with a support slot on the sold-out cross-Canadian tour with Universal Music’s Stereos, The Artist Life will be spending the winter months in the studio with iconic Canadian rock producer Gavin Brown (Billy Talent, Metric), tailoring a full-length record to be released later in 2010.
