thea vs. loki is an Edmonton, Alberta based 4-piece group fronted by Greg Greenleese (Acoustic Guitar, Vocals), who has previously written and is currently writing an extensive catalogue of heartfelt ballads, songs of life’s borders, and songs of netherworlds. He was approached by Trevor Borchuk (Electric Guitar) to pursue their mutual love of music and to reinforce it. With the gentle growl of guitar arpeggios, to an avalanche of pure-toned licks, the sound began to breathe.
Chad Martin (Bass Guitar, Keyboards, Vocals) offered to record the duo in his home, and when he started to accompany the pair with bass and keyboards, full stride chemistry was struck.
The band was completed with the addition of Adam Stark (Electric Guitar, Drums, Vocals) after repeatedly crashing the bands rehearsals. It was soon realized that with Adam’s experience, and ominous and mysterious guitar soundwaves, that he was to become an invaluable asset to building the soundscape that carries the strong songwriting and storytelling of thea vs. loki.
Ranging from spooky, dark roots rock, to full-on rock and roll, to sad jazzy ballads, thea vs. loki continues to try to bring together many varied musical influences into one unified vision.
You can hear some samples of what thea vs. loki is all about on the 2008 CJSR release "Get Out Of Your Basement" compilation, on their self-released EP, entitled "Available Immediately" and some samples from their brand new EP "The Woodsman", now available on this site.
