Evolution. Isn’t that what rock n’ roll is about? Isn’t that what mods are about? Always looking forward?
The Badge is evolving. The sound is changing. The band is maturing.
“The Best of The Badge: 10 Years of the Greatest Rock and Roll You’ve Never Heard” is the line that the band is drawing between the past and the future. It gathers 20 songs – including two brand new tracks – that the band and the fans have picked as the favs, the most memorable, or simply the ones that meant the most for that impossible to define reason.
In anticipation of that The Badge has released a new single. “King Without A Country” b/w “Where You Are” is an old fashioned double A-side. “King Without A Country” rocks and rolls in classic style, while “Where You Are” combines a pastoral quality with an edge missing from today’s disposable music.
But the new single and “The Best of The Badge” also mark an end and a beginning.
This Fall The Badge will release its long-awaited fourth album. Entitled **** (“Four Stars”), it’s another big step forward for the band. It will include 11 new, original songs that will showcase a true creative step forward for the band.
Just as “The EP Collection (2004-2005)” took the band and its fans to places no one could have imagined when it released “Calling Generation Mojo” in 2003, and as “Mojo” did when The Badge released its debut “…digital retro…” in 1998, **** (“Four Stars”) will again up the ante for anyone who has ever taken The Badge to their heart.
In 2009 Jeff, Matthew, Nelson and Matt plan to tour the US, the UK and Europe, release vinyl editions of their first three now-classic albums, add to their “Bootleg Series”, and generally be everywhere they can possibly be to make The Badge a household name.
It’s the end of 10 tumultuous years of recording and road work that garnered great reviews and worldwide attention. Band members have come and gone, but The Badge endures.
It’s the beginning of the next phase of The Badge’s career. Are you ready to rock?
