Forged in the underground bowels of Chicago, IL, BLACK SEPTEMBER arose from the depths in 2006 with their demo Contortion. Influenced by bands such as Bolt Thrower, His Hero Is Gone and Amon Amarth, the demo laid the path for the albums soon to come.
At the time, the band consisting of Jen Pickett on vocals, Chris McMorrow on guitar, Mike Lorr on guitar and John Finaldi on drums recorded the demo and then with the help of Sanford Parker went on to record a five song ep entitled Tide of the Storm. A step up from the Contortion demo, these songs solidified the band's integrity and continued the march from the bowels of the underground.
With the addition of bass player Ian Glass, the next release Thrive & Decay brought forth the true sound of the band. The style is aggressive, yet always melodic. This release allowed the band to tour the east coast of the US for the second time and unveil their sound to a growing congregation.
With the recent release of Hordes of Flesh & Bone & The Sermon of Vengeance, BLACK SEPTEMBER's songs have become more varied than ever, incorporating the roots of death metal as well as showing openness towards different styles such as black metal and doom. These releases weld Jen's looming vocals with crushing guitars and pummeling drums, generating albums teeming with catchy riffs of epic proportions. With just the right mix of blackened touches, stoner riffs, and a crushing production from Andy Nelson at Bricktop Studios, these albums are epic, furious, violently fast and violently slow too, with powerful female vocals. Heed the omen.
"I am the winter on earth, the unsilent storm of darkness
I am the curse of your heart, I am the eternal sin
Pray for destruction, pestilence and war"

I am now
recording for a new set of releases called the "Persona Series". These
cassettes will be commissioned works (not by content, but by payment)
for individuals. If John Smith in London, England wants his own Zebulon
Kosted album, I will make a 45 minute album (one side of a 90 minute
tape), 2 hand drawn mini posters, I will name the album after him
(Zebulon Kosted - John Smith), and the fan will retain all rights to
the recording (for use of any future release, sampling, or broadcasting
rights). One copy of the album will remain in my personal collection,
and one will be sent to the customer, so that the only copy that will
be in circulation will be John Smiths copy! Each album is available for
the ridiculously low price of $10 (not including shipping), and will be
shipped in its completed form no later than 6 weeks from the date of
