The Barmitzvah Brothers are a four piece band from Guelph, Ontario, Canada.
Playing bars, playing basements, playing just about any creative space thats
welcome in 2006 in support of the new record.
Since their formation in April of 2000, they have released four albums, toured
Europe, appeared on at least five television shows, had their pictures taken
with airplanes, and driven their van through treacherous weather. They have
played countless Canadian shows, appearing with bands such as The Arcade Fire,
the Rheostatics, All Purpose Voltage Heroes, Great Lake Swimmers and Final Fantasy.
The current members are Geordie Gordon, Johnny Merritt, Jenny Mitchell, & Tristan
O'Malley. Combining fiddle, banjo, trumpet, and omnichord,
with wurlitzer, keyboard, electric guitar and bass, the brothers create a
unique musical sound that blends folk, country, pop, rock, and maybe even
klezmer.
February 28th, 2006 was the official release of the Barmitzvah Brothers new (and
long awaited) follow-up to Mr. Bones walk-in closet, entitled "The Century of
Invention," released on Permafrost Records (home of Jon-Rae and the River) and
produced by the Barmitzvah Brothers and Andy Magoffin at the House of Miracles
(Constantines, Royal City, Hidden Cameras). The Barmitzvah Brothers cant
really be described as any genre, so your guess is as good as ours.

weewerk014 The Barmitzvah Brothers - "Let's Express Our Motives" (An album of under-appreciated job songs, "Let's Express Our Motives", is the fifth, full-length release from Guelph's The Barmitzvah Brothers and their most accomplished to date. This 20-song album highlights and glorifies some of man's most ordinary and ignored professions. From factory and construction workers, to bookbinders and piano tuners, this album will make you wonder what you've been overlooking.)

Exclaim Album Review - Vish Khanna said this, "London, ON’s finest, the Two-Minute Miracles return with a captivating collection of 16 spirited songs. Andy Magoffin has never been shy conveying anecdotal info in his music and, as something of a sponge, his quirky curiosity has yielded some terrific multi-layered lyrics. A master musician to boot, Magoffin’s Two-Minute Miracles can be the most daring rock band this side of Wilco, building ingenious songs up into sturdy, eye-catching structures. The band is further afield here and the results are fascinating. On “The Minus Ball,” Magoffin documents a time-share struggle between his home in London and Guelph, where his lady fri
