WHY YOU SHOULD VOTE THE BASSTURD FOR PRESIDENT IN 2012 - AN OUTLINE OF WHAT THE BASSTURD CAN DO FOR YOU AND YOUR COUNTRY. __________________________________________________________________ Greetings patriots! America is at a crossroads. It has become painfully clear to anyone that has been paying attention that the "old" American way of life has been mutilated by the corporate infiltration of our government. Let there be no doubt, we live in a fascist state. The public interest has been overshadowed by private interest. We no longer have a federal government that functions as a forum for public policy discourse. Almost all business done at the federal level is business that benefits private corporations. How did this happen? How did we lose our democracy? I’ll tell you how. We stopped paying attention and treated our country’s politics like it was a football game, rooting for our favorite team with no regards to the substance and implications of our team’s proposed game plan. We shouldn’t be too hard on ourselves though. The mass-media has certainly facilitated this shift in our public discourse by allowing only the information they want you to see and hear to filter through their outlets. If you haven’t already figured this out yet, you should probably stop paying attention to the American media, especially cable news. They are a for-profit entity that is beholden to the same corporate masters as our elected representatives in Washington. Get your news online. Read blogs and articles in foreign newspapers. Get as much perspective from as many different sources as you can, and then make up your own mind. Stop letting the media and the corporate financed campaign ads tell you how to vote. Decide how you are going to vote by doing some independent research. Then, make a reasoned decision and help save your country. __________________________________________________________________ A PLATFORM THAT WILL CHANGE AMERICA FOREVER - HOW WE CAN FIX OUR BROKEN GOVERNMENT AND MAKE SURE THAT THIS NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN! __________________________________________________________________ On November 16th, 2007, I officially announced my candidacy for the 2012 presidential bid. I am so committed to the cause of saving America from itself that I am launching this campaign five years before the election will take place. No other potential candidate can claim that they possess the resolve and determination to begin campaigning this early. I feel that the best way to truly build up a grassroots movement is to plant the seeds early so that your movement can take root, flourish, and then become totally unmanageable. We have a chance here to start a real revolution. I am not a politician, I am not a businessman, I am not a lobbyist, I am not a special interest group, and I am by no means wealthy. I have had absolutely NO experience in public service. I didn’t go to an Ivy League school. My only qualifications for this job are that I am a U.S. born citizen and in 2012 I will be 35 years of age, thus fulfilling the ONLY two constitutional requirements for running for President of the United States. Some critics may say, "Well, you’ve got no qualifications. Why would I vote for you?" Because silly, I’ve got no qualifications. I’m just another American citizen. I am a college graduate who still toils for low wages at shitty jobs. I know how hard it is for the millions of Americans who live without health insurance coverage because I am one of them. I know how poverty has afflicted and decimated our urban ghettos because I’ve lived in them. I know how harmless marijuana is because I’ve smoked it. I know why so many people in this country are falling behind because I’m falling right along with them. I know how desperately our public schools are in need of funding because I attended one. I know how our once prosperous rural farmlands are quickly devolving into rural ghettos because I grew up in Iowa. I know why America’s government doesn’t work because I’ve studied it. I know why people may doubt me as being a serious contender for president because I doubt myself. But the point is that I am no better than you or anyone else. I’m simply another run-of-the-mill American citizen with a bold plan for our nation’s future. We’ve relied on the big money establishment to tell us how things are going to be done in this country for way too long. It’s time we stood up and collectively shouted "ENOUGH OF THIS BULLSHIT!" We need a leader who is only beholden to the public good. No more of this lip service from the two rich contenders about how much they care about the poor and how much they will do to make America a better place for working families. What do they care if a family crippled by debt can’t declare bankruptcy because of Bush’s new law? What do they care if millions of people in this country still slave away at demeaning jobs for a minimum wage that essentially allows the earner to live in poverty? What do they care if you live or die fighting in what they call a war, but what is really a business venture? They don’t care, and their actions and policies have proven that time and time again. Nothing will change in this country as long as this establishment remains in power. That’s why The Bassturd is the right choice for President in 2012.
