NOMINATED FOR THE 2007 UK COUNTRY RADIO AWARDS

The Big River Band started out as a function band in 2003 and the original members still continue to work for their private and corporate clients as such. Now known as TheBig River Function Band.
Founder members, Renee & Gerry prefer to concentrate on their country band, which is becoming more and more popular.
We play country rock, country swing, bluegrass, rockabilly and traditional country music.
We’re a pretty versatile band and try to appeal to young and old, line dancers, freestyle dancers and listeners, and build our repertoire accordingly.
We love to play our own material, but we know that there is a wide audience out there who love to listen to more traditional country music as well as the new country styles. So when we’re booked at country clubs we play our own style of music along with plenty of covers, new and old, so that we can play something for everyone. We also write and perform some lovely traditional style country songs and ballads as well as our more rocky material and they seem to be very popular.
Our original songs are receiving radio airplay in The UK, throughout Europe & Australia, and internet radio play, worldwide. The band is featured on a Monday night country show on a local radio station.
We’re all very experienced singers and musicians and have played in many different bands over the years covering almost every genre. Jazz, pop, rock, blues, soul and country. But it’s the country music that appeals to us the most.
Ken and Renee were in a country rock band together for 3 years some time ago and she feels that her performance and writing has been influenced by some of the great female artists she covered then and still covers now.
Our first album will be released later this year and we’re hoping to do a tour soon after, visiting the towns and countries where songs from the album have already been played.
We’d love to hear from anyone who can help us to secure work in The UK, Ireland, the rest of Europe and The USA.

This month we have Regina Spektor with the theme to the film Prince Caspian (but don’t let that put you off, it is really rather wonderful), Mermaid Skeletons with a great song that’s worth it for the chorus alone, the Agnostic Mountain Gospel Choir, who are as good as their name if not more so and finally the legendary Chip Taylor with the thought-provoking Former American Soldier. Great listening, and if you like the tracks, buy the albums!
