Started in the summer of 1999, The Borderguards exploded upon the Calgary music scene with an abrasive mix of melody, rockabilly, blues and street punk. Canada's legendary street-punk-rock'n'roll-oi-a-billy-bluescore heroes have been going strong since the summer 'o' '99 and they aint looking back, going away or lettin' up. Songs about Canada, the world we live in, working, love, loss, booze and the good old glory days to name just a few. Well hated and well loved by many and we cant wait to see how you'll end up feeling about us, not that we care, we just cant wait. After 6 years of countless shows, interviews, a past piper going on to join Dropkick Murphys, line up changes, a mini movie on the internet and nearly 50,000 hits since October 2002 on the bands website, The Borderguards have established themselves as a force to be reckoned with. Whether assertively standing tough against critics of the band or organising entire shows for charities such as the malaria endemic in Africa or the Tsunami disaster, the group has proven that they are an outfit that is not afraid to make a stand for what they believe in. The University of Calgary's campus newspaper "The Gauntlet" has stated that the Borderguards will save the world with their brand of punk rock. In the words of Canadas own Virus zine; "The Borderguards are not Canadian punk rock, THEY ARE AWESOME." 2005 is here and it's full steam ahead once more for the 4 Borderguards.
