Here's a brief description of the Brenda Vaqueros experience: Think Mars Bonfire meets Morricone, or Hazelwood meets Hawkwind - except without any of the talent.
The Brenda Vaqueros hail from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, but want to visit your town soon. The band features Brent Crosson on guitar and vocals, Kenna Burima on keys and vocals, Adam Kamis on guitar and vocals, Ian Tennant on bass and Daren Powell on lead drums.
The origins of the band can be traced to the basement of Brent Crosson. A few years before the dawn of the new millenia, Brent, Daren and Tia Travis of Curse of Horseflesh infamy began "practicing" in the basement of Casa del Crosson. All looked well until Tia moved to California, leaving the group short-handed. However, fate stepped in and Daren, a CJSW programmer met Adam Kamis at the station, where both men hosted programs. Adam was then playing bass with The English Teeth, but grabbed a guitar and joined the big noise from Renfrew.
After three or four years of inconclusive, yet interesting tinkering, the nascent band was joined by Ian Tennant and Kenna Burima. The desire to leave the basement and take to the stage naturally came about and the band has subsequently found themselves playing shows whenever and wherever they can.
The recordings on this page will be available as an EP sometime before the new year. The Brenda Vaqueros will be recording a full-length offering in January of 2007.

It's a bloody shame, but I can't make it to the show this weekend. Certain family members volunteered me for housesitting duty and just informed me of it now. So I'll be taking care of inbred cats in a crappy little town instead of rocking at the Can-Ho... Fair trade? You decide.
I hear the authorities have issued a Tornado/Vulcano/Hurricane/Avalanche/Earthquake/UFO/Terrorist/Bear/Shark/Teenage/Zombie alert for the Canmore area this weekend. Apparently, there are worrisome signs that an outbreak of the dreaded 'Rock n Roll' virus is imminent.

You guys were sounding so good last night! Thanks again for suggesting us as the opener. By the way, did you surf it up a bit extra last night? Good on you!
Okay, you murky lot certainly put in a much better effort than the Flames (the wreck of the OL'97 comes to mind);
and the 'dancing' roustabout was something to behold as well. You should invite him more often.
