righto... last thursday was good, not sure which genius decided to play the walkmen but that was really appreciated.
just one question.. there was a song played by the white stripes near the beginning of the night, but i have no idea what it's called.. can't even tell you the words because i don't know them. anyone know what it was?
OOOooo Candy Box. A new venue eh? Is it bigger or smaller than the last place? Might pop along and throw some shapes. Although I swear the spirits are watered down because I never seem to get drunk in Candy Box?! Please slap my wrist if I am making wild accusations. They should sell Strongbow Super, its like horse tranquiliser and its also a quid (in scabby newsagents)
I, for one, like Mr Noel Edmonds' Indie Groundhog Day club idea. I would certainly go there. But why stop with just having the same playlist every week? There could be a train departure board style affair that displayed clearly the exact time at which songs were going to be played, so that punters could strategically plan trips to the bathroom to get funny-smelling liquid sprayed on their hands and still not miss their favourite tunes. Also, how about a special cordoned off area for people who don't understand sarcasm?
Hey by the way I went to Candybox last thursday and I thought the music was wicked and as for 'Noel Edmonds' u r a strange fellow aren't u? Y on earth would u like 2 listen 2 the exact same songs every single night? Stay at home if thats what u want! And also I hate 2 break the news 2 u but ur club idea sounds crap cease plans now b4 its 2 late! Ah well woteva floats ur boat i guess xxx
Just a little reply to Lauren: you mention that they don't play stuff that is mentioned on the flyer. Why not tell them what you want to be played? How about a constructive bit of criticism? Do you even ask them to play anything? Or do you just slag it off to your mates cos it's cool to do that sort of thing? Hmm?
Oh right you are Lauren. I was there last week and in the first couple of hours those deaf dj's played stuff such as:-
Hidden Cameras
TV On The Radio
Super Furry Animals
Envelopes
The Flaming Lips
Envelopes
The Boy Least Likely To
The White Stripes
Elvis Costello
Arcade Fire
The Fratellis
The Rifles
The Libertines
Dirty Pretty Things
Primal Scream
Speed Circus
Supergrass
Queens Of The Stone Age
The Clash etc,
....all stuff that would never get played at Londons favourite late midweek cheap drinks and schmindie in my day!!!
I'm like you, I like my clubs to play EXACTLY what it says on the flyer and nothing else besides. I don't want to hear anything new and interesting just the same stuff every single time.
Those Djs should be hung, you're right. as should the other deaf idiots who were dancing to that 'music' and requesting to hear it.
I'm going to start a club called Indie Groundhog Day and the playlist is exactly the same every week, then you know what you're getting. The flyer will actually list all of the songs to be played so no-one can be mislead by 'false advertising'.
I might make it a money-back guarantee if I slip up and play something interesting that confuses the punters, that would be a good idea I think!!
oh yes. it's a mating ritual call, so don't be all sideline wallflower. god fucking damn it i want to dance!...but i am round the other side of the world without an indie playground in sight. :P suckssssssssss
