About me:
FIVE DAYS IN CHINA. ONE INDEPENDENT FILM CREW. NO PERMITS.
Another typical American day at work - 8000 miles from home.
The China Project is a fictional dramatic short based on the writer/director's own observations of life as
an American engineer working in the industrialized wasteland of southern China. Within the secretive
world of low-wage contract manufacturing, power, culture and economics collide to feed China's thriving
underground sex industry. Ostensibly a simple snapshot of one engineer's typical day at work, The China
Project provides a rare glimpse into the human effects of globalization through the tale of one man's
complicity.
In February of 2007, writer/director Jesus Beltran and a skeleton crew of five travelled 8000 miles from
home to shoot on location in the Guangdong province of Southern China. Shot on HD in only five days,
The China Project is a visually stunning portrait of China's modern day "Wild West" .
Joe and I had a great time recording the lines for the film. Joe's first question was, "What kind of f&%$#$g film did guys make in China? I just laughed!
I can't wait to see this movie, the director of this movie I heard has a vision that is incredible and out of this world. I heard that you need to keep watchin out for Jesus "Chin" Beltran. He's Nacho everyday director!
Thanks Chin and the rest of the crew. Excited to see...and hear. Love the colors or lack there of, gives a nice depth. Little different then the clinical feel of a Marine recruiters office. We'll be seeing you in Omaha.
