  • Bio

The Chip Smith Project is dedicated to our Daddy, Chip Smith. Tho he worked his whole life in the auto salvage business, his greatest love was music. His songs filled our home and our hearts. Our Momma, Eulene, loved our Daddy so much that she named all her boy-children Chip. There were five boys and Daisy, Chip's only girl-child. As we grew it became known that Daddy had a lot of Mommas around the country. It was hard for us to know at first, but we understood that it is near impossible not to love Daddy. It turns out that all of Daddy's other Mommas loved him so much that they also named their boy-children after Daddy. So, it turns out we have a lot of brother Chips. To eliminate confusion, we deliniate which Chip is which by what it is they do or where they come from. For instance, our brother Chip from Acadia up in Maine is a fisherman, so his name is Fishin' Chip. Our tree-cutting brother from Weare, NH s is called Wood Chip. And so on. There are lots of 'em. We ourselves hail from Milan, New Hampshire. We have raised up our own families and have sung them Daddy's songs all their lives, and now we feel the time has come to let the nation hear our Daddy's songs. We have two whole CDs filled with Daddy's beautiful songs, the first is called "Piehole Liars", and the new one is called "The Pretty Straight And Narrow". You can listen to them here and if you want to buy them you can go to CDBaby. We also have a Major Emotional Picture in the works, a film all about our family, the music, and the search for our brothers out there. We have lots of stories to tell, too many to write here. So do come see us. We are leaving the fine state of New Hampshire for the first time to play our hearts out for the people. Thank you, Daddy. We all love you. Daisy and all the Chips

Was sitting on a jetty in Galilee yesterday, watching this little blue motor boat approach...as it went by, I noticed the name on the bow--"Blue Chip"...lordy, didn't my heart skip a beat when I saw my long-dead brother's name on that boat! Nice to know our mutual brother's memory lives on in so many ways!
    love, Paint Chip

Hey, was enjoying Brother Bru Bru just now and decided to Google him--not only in he a real person but he's a musician who played with Dylan in the early days and was the inspiration for Mr.
Tambourine man! Maybe Dylan via Stu can hook you up with an insider supply!
