Both the name of the group and the tunes that we play originate from John Playford's country dance tutorial The Dancing Master, that was printed in 18 editions from 1651 to approx. 1728, and contains over 500 dances. (The angelic fiddler in our logo is from the 7th edition.)
In our arrangements of the one-part originals, we focus on the folk musical element of the tunes, using some typical folk instruments, like nyckelharpa, jaw harp, and hurdy-gurdy, to complement the standard baroque recorder, violin, and viol.
We have performed at a lot of different venues, like the Stockholm Early Music Festival, the Korrö folk music festival, Musik i Glasriket, Konstsommar in the botanical garden of Linnaeus in Uppsala, Riddarholmsdagen in Stockholm, 1700-talsfesten in Uppsala, the Hammarskog manor, and various pubs, parties, and churches, etc.

I'm really enjoying your music here! - great! I think I should have been a gambist, but not having a gamba around I kept adding strings to the cello - now with 16!
This years festival is headlined by Billy Bragg (Friday), Seth Lakeman (Sunday) and Peatbog Faeries (Saturday) with many more top artists also performing incl the award winning The Demon Barbers.

Poem cum song 2 of 230: WALKABOUT WITH MY PEN
Once drove an old sedan, up north, From a place in Sydney to Cairns; Then to Kuranda I went forth, By train, to look without set plans.
I browsed through the trendy market, With fresh fruits of tropical kind; Walked to the creek through lush thicket - Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.
I dined in a scenic cafe; Then, outside, as I wrote for yen, Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey, You go walkabout with your pen.”
Request or question, I don’t know - Assured voices, elderly men. That’s now several years ago, And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.
