Formed in 2005 in the Midlands UK, the DASTARDS are in the new vanguard of bands that just don't really fit into any of the typical genres. DASTARDS combine interesting lyrics with intricate guitar patterns and distinctive vocals.
Praised in the media for their idiosynchratic style and original sound the DASTARDS are going from strength to strength for such a new young band.
DASTARDS have had a number of line up changes since 2005. WAKE is the one constant. CHRIS left - then came back. He may have left again. JAKE joined a few months ago. GEORGE has been a DASTARD for about a year now. Newest member is STOO on drums.
Taking the DIY route (everything done in-house) means DASTARDS retain complete control of their image and career. This also allows us to promote the band without all the usual spin, hype and nonsense that has pervaded the current music scene. The 'friends' on here are the genuine ones - and so are the 'plays'. We don't use software to artifically inflate the numbers. DASTARDS are the real deal - so no hype necessary!!
Stretch Records takes care of management, promotion, the web sites and admin. We are looking for a publishing arrangement - so publishers get in touch here.
Note all the best photos on this page and our main site were taken by the great David Rann.
"I like the singer’s voice, and I like the name. And the 80’s synth arpeggios are pretty incredible." - Damian, OK GO
"Really like this track, especially the arpeg. synth. A tight production as well" - James Digital A & R Columbia / RCA
"Ah, good, rocking at speed through some kind of fuzz-drenched blues swamp. Its rough, its ready, it rocks and if you want anything else from Lynrd Skynrd on toad-lick, you want too much"
Up to its skinny English knees in Americana, quaver vox, churning guitars, its got the full set and talking of guitars, which, face it, we were bound to at some stage, The Dastards have quite an impressive armoury. Listen up, listen here"
- Unpeeled Magazine
"Wake leads their assault with his amazingly individualistic vocal work - really strange, wavering, quavering and God knows what! Strange but stunning!! The overall sound and style is memorable, refreshing and slightly American-esque. Mature, classy and thought provoking songwriting adds massive strength to the guys' silky-slick, often breathtaking performance" - Toxic Pete
"Slick indie rock" "like swimming in a sea of chocolate" - PowPowPow
"Some might say Placebo but I wouldn't.
I think this band are better than Molko and his cohorts!"
- Johnny English
"The heart and driving force of Dastards is the unique and exciting singer /songwriter/ multi-instrumentalist, Wake. And this guy is something quite special, very special, frighteningly special!! - Toxic Pete
"Awesome" - Kerrang

You’re on Brumcast 100 ‘A Celebration’, This behemoth of a show features 50 tracks from Midlands based bands that have been played previously in one of the last 99 shows. Its not a 'Best of Brumcast' and the tracks are in no particular order. This is a (big) slice of some of the tracks that have given me much pleasure over the last 2 years. Some very difficult decisions were made in selecting the tracks for this landmark show. Please promote/plug/whore it!
