  • Bio

The DEAD MANS CHEST was formed in the middle of 2006 to write HARDCORE that was brutal, angry and full of hatred in a style that we ourselves would want to listen to! DEAD MANS CHEST - The First And The Fallen mini CD... ..Apparently this ‘God-free hardcore band formed in Northampton on the sixth day of the sixth month, 2006, and whilst that sounds like so much colourful hokum, it’s a keen indication of the apocalyptic frenzy they conjure forth with their tightly-wound metallic beatdowns. The primary influences at play here are obviously Integrity and Ringworm (the East Midlands via Cleveland then?), but the guys enthusiastically plunder pretty much most of the violent evil metalcore you will have heard and feared these last two decades to create something impressively brutal. The production is crushingly claustrophobic, the lyrics a diatribe of Christ-baiting invective, and the cover art suitably ‘Reign In Blood’. Dead Man’s Chest might not be overly original, but they tick all the right boxes, and if the early Victory and Good Life rosters pretty much define your concept of hardcore, this MCD will knock you clean through the wall. ..7.... ....IAN GLASPER / TERRORIZER MAGAZINE.... .. ..Ohhh, you can tell this lot mean business. The accompanying biography to their demo includes the words "God-Free Hardcore" in BIG letters at the top. They also stated jamming "on the sixth day of the sixth month of 2006" - how metal is that? Wearing their influences - Slayer, Integrity Cro-Mags and Discharge - firmly on their sleeves, this Northampton / London crew dish up enough filthy, dirty, sludgy hardcore on these four tracks to make a whore blush. Nice! ..JL / ROCKSOUND MAGAZINE....
