Everyone's favourite punk'n'roll village idiots The Dead Pets have been doin rather
well for themselves lately.
What else is there to say other than the Dead Pets are fucking amazing Gigwise literally
smiles from ear to ear and laughs the entire way through their set. It's almost impossible
to take your eyes off the stage, Barfly has never hosted such a lively band!
They sound amazing, they look amazing, and they even dance amazingtheres just something about
them that makes it impossible to stop watching, oozing charisma and obviously having the time of
their life. The Dead Pets are natural born entertainers, from their explosive set, to Stashs bad
jokes, armpit high boxer shorts and "marching on the spot" dancing to Sweenys undecipherable banter
and twirling about on the floor in front of the stagethey certainly know how to work the crowdthey

Cannily advertised on the ticket as "St Pets' Day" (oh ho ho), tonight is another good
indication that while Leeds may be churning out indie kid bands at ten to the dozen right
now that the punk scene's flourishing quite nicely as well thank you.
how such an undeniably good band are still on the sidelines
great tunes
like "WMC" and "Dreams Of A Crook" a brilliant set with
plenty of banter (including a mid-set limbo dancing competition) and some top-drawer moshpit
anthems .
If this band doesn't inspire you to grin and headbang until your neck snaps then you must
be dead. All in all, it's the perfect accompaniment to a few pints of Guinness and a top night out.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,The Dead Pets provided great entertainment, with the lead singer's anecdotes,

..........................................................................................................................By the time The Dead Pets came on, this band really going all out with their extreme
entertainment and their full on front man who doesnt stop moving and performing even in between
songs, for as long as they played, and the brass section,
Whos gonna catch me? said the brash Dead Pets frontman in his gutteral Northern accent.
It wasnt a request but more of a challenge as he stood perched on the edge of the PA speakers.
Without further ado he launched himself with a half somersault into the crowd while singing & was
duly tossed around like a rag doll. Usually when I haul people out telling them this is a
must see gig, Im left with egg on my face when the band will let us down. But not tonight,
this was an onslaught from start to finish, not a foot put wrong, not a song too long, the whole
purpose was entertainment & entertained we were.

nights & they dont happen that often; everyone was out for a good time & thats what they got
Lets face facts, theres no light show, projections, pyrotechnics or costume changes
going on here, this is a punk rock gig in a grotty pub in a boarded up area of town. All there is on offer
are loud guitars, excellent music & bags & bags of energy.
The Dead Pets are fucking superb, the Dead
Pets are a punk band, but with a saxophonist & trumpeteer thrown in, you get 100mph full on punk rock but
there is most definitely a King Kurt & The Coral feel running through the sound as well (bizarre eh!). Add
this to an anything goes attitude from the frontman & you have one helluva show on your hands.

They've been hovering around for about five years but in the last twelve months they suddenly
been picking themselves up a big following. its down to the
fact their rabble rousing good time music is striking a raw nerve out there. Every time I see them
they seem to have doubled their audience and their T-shirts seem to be cropping up everywhere.
Mashing up the aggro of good time street punk with a bouncy ska inflection and putting it through
own daft norfern wit makes for a great show and also makes them contenders for some kind of breakthrough
in the next twelve months. The difference between the Dead Pets and most up and coming bands is that the

if they continue to churn out songs similar to those featured on this five track Demo, then they deserve all the success that comes their way. .........................................................................................................'Revenge of da Idiots' gets the album underway, in a slow fashion before building and exploding into a trumpet fueled frenzy. The gruff vocals of front man Sweeney Todd lead the way in a strong opener and a guitar solo is even thrown in for good measure at the end. The feature of trumpets certainly spices things up and doesn't let things become sterile, unlike a lot of other bands who feature a brass section in predominantly punk rock orientated songs. 'If It Sells, It Sells' follows up with a classy bass line bringing the track to life before the lyrics kick in about a song for the tabloid press, and has a very anthemic feel about it. 'Gin' takes a darker tone before a bout of frenetic drumming shifts the song into 6th gear. 'Never Never and 'We're coming back' finish the this short offering off in typical fashion with the former another angry effort but the final track proving a real up lifter and would look the part at the end of any gig or album. ...........................................................................................................The Dead Pets manage to combine influences from many styles and put them into a mixing pot which comes out amazingly well. They have a raw punk edge, a comedic side and crowd pleasing anthems to go with it, which you can't help but feel benefits there ear-splitting live show. The Dead Pets deserve more of your time and as long as they continue along the same lines they may go someway to being brought forth to the masses. .....................................................................THE DEAD PETS
Opening track "follow us in" sets the mood for the whole set with its anthem like chant of "we are the Dead Pets!"
Perhaps due to over crowding on the stage, or perhaps due to excessive energy, singer Sweeny Todd spends half the gig in the crowd, barking the lyrics at individual crowd members as if they are to blame for the worlds problems.
The seven-musician line up creates a solid yet clean sound, a testament to the skill of this punk mob. They have everything a punk band needs. They're scruffy, tasteless, rude, offensive, aggressive and instantly likeable. The whole band ooze charisma, and they possess one vital strength that you rarely see with commercial punk bands... they all look like they are having a great time. Cannily advertised on the ticket as "St Pets' Day" (oh ho ho), tonight is another good
indication that while Leeds may be churning out indie kid bands at ten to the dozen right
now that the punk scene's flourishing quite nicely as well thank you.
how such an undeniably good band are still on the sidelines
great tunes
like "WMC" and "Dreams Of A Crook" a brilliant set with
plenty of banter (including a mid-set limbo dancing competition) and some top-drawer moshpit
anthems .
If this band doesn't inspire you to grin and headbang until your neck snaps then you must
be dead. All in all, it's the perfect accompaniment to a few pints of Guinness and a top night out.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,The Dead Pets provided great entertainment, with the lead singer's anecdotes,
and a random bagpipe rendition! Their energetic punk rock'n'roll sounds really
drew the crowd to the dance floor.

..........................................................................................................................By the time The Dead Pets came on, this band really going all out with their extreme
entertainment and their full on front man who doesnt stop moving and performing even in between
songs, for as long as they played, and the brass section,
Whos gonna catch me? said the brash Dead Pets frontman in his gutteral Northern accent.
It wasnt a request but more of a challenge as he stood perched on the edge of the PA speakers.
Without further ado he launched himself with a half somersault into the crowd while singing & was
duly tossed around like a rag doll. Usually when I haul people out telling them this is a
must see gig, Im left with egg on my face when the band will let us down. But not tonight,
this was an onslaught from start to finish, not a foot put wrong, not a song too long, the whole
purpose was entertainment & entertained we were.

Tonight was one of those
nights & they dont happen that often; everyone was out for a good time & thats what they got
Lets face facts, theres no light show, projections, pyrotechnics or costume changes
going on here, this is a punk rock gig in a grotty pub in a boarded up area of town. All there is on offer
are loud guitars, excellent music & bags & bags of energy.
The Dead Pets are fucking superb, the Dead
Pets are a punk band, but with a saxophonist & trumpeteer thrown in, you get 100mph full on punk rock but
there is most definitely a King Kurt & The Coral feel running through the sound as well (bizarre eh!). Add
this to an anything goes attitude from the frontman & you have one helluva show on your hands.

They've been hovering around for about five years but in the last twelve months they suddenly
been picking themselves up a big following. its down to the
fact their rabble rousing good time music is striking a raw nerve out there. Every time I see them
they seem to have doubled their audience and their T-shirts seem to be cropping up everywhere.
Mashing up the aggro of good time street punk with a bouncy ska inflection and putting it through
own daft norfern wit makes for a great show and also makes them contenders for some kind of breakthrough
in the next twelve months. The difference between the Dead Pets and most up and coming bands is that the
Pets are already pretty big. ......................................................................................................
.Its just a straight out version of The Dead Pets music. Id say its punk, its ska, its rock n roll, its whatever you want it to be. You cant really pigeon-hole The Dead Pets because were a brassy, northern, psycho, ska punk rock band, whatever that is. we dont fit into any other category its the Dead Pets sound...........................................................................................................They are better than amazing, not only are they fookin brilliant . This is the most listened album in miwhole collection like. if they continue to churn out songs similar to those featured on this five track Demo, then they deserve all the success that comes their way. .........................................................................................................'Revenge of da Idiots' gets the album underway, in a slow fashion before building and exploding into a trumpet fueled frenzy. The gruff vocals of front man Sweeney Todd lead the way in a strong opener and a guitar solo is even thrown in for good measure at the end. The feature of trumpets certainly spices things up and doesn't let things become sterile, unlike a lot of other bands who feature a brass section in predominantly punk rock orientated songs. 'If It Sells, It Sells' follows up with a classy bass line bringing the track to life before the lyrics kick in about a song for the tabloid press, and has a very anthemic feel about it. 'Gin' takes a darker tone before a bout of frenetic drumming shifts the song into 6th gear. 'Never Never and 'We're coming back' finish the this short offering off in typical fashion with the former another angry effort but the final track proving a real up lifter and would look the part at the end of any gig or album. ...........................................................................................................The Dead Pets manage to combine influences from many styles and put them into a mixing pot which comes out amazingly well. They have a raw punk edge, a comedic side and crowd pleasing anthems to go with it, which you can't help but feel benefits there ear-splitting live show. The Dead Pets deserve more of your time and as long as they continue along the same lines they may go someway to being brought forth to the masses. .....................................................................THE DEAD PETS
Opening track "follow us in" sets the mood for the whole set with its anthem like chant of "we are the Dead Pets!"
Perhaps due to over crowding on the stage, or perhaps due to excessive energy, singer Sweeny Todd spends half the gig in the crowd, barking the lyrics at individual crowd members as if they are to blame for the worlds problems.
The seven-musician line up creates a solid yet clean sound, a testament to the skill of this punk mob. They have everything a punk band needs. They're scruffy, tasteless, rude, offensive, aggressive and instantly likeable. The whole band ooze charisma, and they possess one vital strength that you rarely see with commercial punk bands... they all look like they are having a great time.
