Sounds LikeMY THOUGHTS LIGHT FIRES

"They have that effortless drive of early Supersonic style Oasis, that and a Jesus & Mary Chain, early Primal Scream, My Bloody Valentine feel. Deep Cut are good, they effortlessly rock with their caressing wall of gentle distorted white noise and her soothing voice. Her name is Emma Bailey, they’re from London, this is the rather impressive debut album, it comes with a knowing swagger, a rocking attitude, they have an edge of their own, an unexpected twist or two, something a little different, they’re good" (Organ Magazine)

"Mat Flint (guitarist here) has played bass guitar for Death In Vegas for the last 10 years - as well as being the founding member of Revolver (remember the single Crimson?) which ran from 1990 - 94. So, his new(ish) project, Deep Cut ( begun life back in 2005) certainly posses the credentials required to jump the queue a bit when the curious and the fanatics are trawling through the piles of new releases that each month tends to offer up. Possibly on the strength of their single ‘Time To Kill’, which brought the band to the attention of the UK almost immediately, this debut album ‘My Thoughts Light Fires’ will be pounced upon for more than just reasons of Flint nostalgia - and rightly so! This is a record inundated with excellence. It has grunge, pop, indie and rock n roll. There’s sensitivity and there’s out and out abandonment. Add to all this the stunning vocal of Emma Bailey and you have an album that holds it’s own regardless of personnel." (www.subba-cultcha.com)

"a first-rate album" (Dazed and Confused)

TIME TO KILL

"Further expanding the notion that a full blown shoegazer revival is lurking just around the corner, five piece outfit Deep Cut pop up here with their deliciously shimmering new single TIME TO KILL. Featuring Death In Vegas bassist and former Revolver mainman Mat Flint, Deep Cut certainly have the indie credentials by the bucketload, but it's vocalist Emma Bailey that provides the heart and soul on TIME TO KILL, crooning with a glorious balance of dark menace and sweet harmony against shimmering guitar squalls and metronomic drum beats. Reminscent of early nineties outfits like Lush or Curve, Deep Cut deliver a gloriously mannered mix of white noise and ethereal beauty here, flipside JUST CHASING remixed by Tim Holmes even proving that without vocals, this is a band who can deliver the goods in superb style." 8.5 out of 10 (www.ukmusicreview.com)

"Deep Cut was formed in 2005 by Mat Flint and Simon Flint and last year they recruited Emma Bailey on vocals. The vocals in ‘Time To Kill’ are so addictive that I struggle to see how this band worked before she joined. They seem to work perfectly together with that fuzzy early 90’s grunge/ambient sound. Like a MBV/Dinosaur Jnr mash up. There’s not a great deal that goes on in this song, the vast majority of it revolves around a repetitive chorus but due to the strength of that chorus it never gets dull. So get out your lumberjack shirt, tie it around your waist and enjoy a distorted paradise I call the early 90’s." Rating: 3.8/5 (thefourohfive.com)

"More shoe gazing revisionism with a Breeder-esque quality from the sometime Death In Vegas cohort, impressive..."(www.subba-cultcha.com)

COMMODITY

"loud guitar lines with a sensitive feeling, and an amazing girl singer... the single "Commodity" is amongst the best singles out in 2007. For fans of Jesus And Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine and The Byrds" (Goonite Club)

"An awesome, driving single of guitarpop/shoegaze magic from this new band featuring ex-Revolver/Death in Vegas member Mat Flint. Female vocals over fuzzy guitars is a win-win recipe for sure. Hot stuff!" (www.tonevendor.com)
