   About The Dials

VIDEO DIARY EPISODE 1

It’s here! Episode 1 of our recording video diary - highlights include “Wine Club” and “Dermot Clapping”. Pour yourself a plastic beaker of Merlot, sit back and enjoy…

DEBUT ALBUM OUT NOW!

That’s right - we’re proud to announce the release of our imaginatively eponymously self-titled debut album "The Dials" on Gear Discs. And, until it hits the shop on 19th March, the only place you can get hold of it is from our website. A snip at only £9.99 including P&P anywhere in the world.

The tracklisting is as follows:
Theme From Dials
We’ve Seen The Two Faces of God And Dug The Peanut (But Tell Me, What Do The Children Believe?)
Lonely Boy
Fairy Ring Champion
Leaves
Pontius Pilate At The KMart
Being Born
Where Did Our Love Go?
Hello, My Name’s Jesus And I’m An Alcoholic
The Coracle
Willow Craft Centre
Lay Down Your Heavy Load
Me Soh Fah
Been Inside Your Mind

"The Dials have recorded two of my favourite recent tracks... I’m loving the album" Mark Lamarr, BBC Radio 2

"Many knowledgeable heads nod sagely in their direction; Gideon Coe and Mark Lamarr are fans, and now having heard the album, I understand why... a great band" Bob Harris, BBC Radio 2

"Really, really good" Dave Henderson, Mojo

"A twanging country psych extravaganza. Right on!" The Fly

"The Dials turn a monolithic corporate space into an intimate roadhouse cafe on the dark side of town. Long may they ride"
Michael Kemp, Americana UK

"Theres an old saying, If youre going to steal, steal from the best. The Dials have taken this to heart. From the Beatles to the Byrds, from Cash to the Clash, they take a little bit from everyone and mix it all up into an exhilerating musical stew"
Jerry Jodice, The Great American Music Hour, WRIR 973FM, Virginia

Of course there was! And at the time, we were very much into all things 60's, Byrds etc. where do you think all that 12 string guitar gubbins came from! So I think you had impecable taste! Yeah, I'll be there as the pub is around the corner from where I live.
Looking forward to it!

Hey Andy, thanks for your message! I was at the gig on Saturday. I haven't seen you guys play for two years, so it was great to see you live again.
I've never been fond of the venue, but I thought the gig was really fab! And don't worry, your secret is safe with me, but what's so wrong about liking the Pooh Sticks? Oops, have I just let the cat out of the bag?

Hello The Dials

Check out our new song, featuring Phil Wilson of The June Brides. It’s a cover version of Felt’s ‘Penelope Tree’

It’s a different version to the one that’s on Phil’s page.

Jun 11 2007 12:40 PM

just wanted to say 'i like you'...and...

In 1769 the poet Thomas Gray set out upon a walking tour of the Lake District, England. He was one of the first of a swathe of poets who came to discover the ‘Lakes’ as a source of sublime and picturesque beauty.

Keeping a diary journal, he recorded his experiences; and it was this account that provided the source of inspiration for my latest work; ‘The Lake’.

Gray’s description of the Lakeland scenery is rich and vivid: he describes an awe-inspiring beauty mixed with the restful tranquillity of the “shining purity of the lake”; its surface, “majestic in its calmness; clear and smooth as a blue mirror”.

To translate his vision into a musical equivalent was the aim. Enjoy the myspace mp3.

best wishes

ian :)

Hey boys, I notice you are playing Spitz in London soon.

A word of advice, be careful of the 'Night Ladies' outside when you leave.

They tend to get a bit nasty when you explain that you don't actually have a spare cigarette that they can have, and tend to look uncannily like Sandra Bernhart as well <shudder>.
