    Vocalist Takuro Sugata founded Astro Attack in 2008 under a different name, which began creating a name for itself in in the Kobe area, even earning an indies band award from a local radio station. Member changes also led to a name change, upon which the band took the moniker Astro Attack. Under this new name, they expanded the base of their activity to Taiwan, where they have performed at numerous annual festivals. In 2011, they planned and headlined a festival concert featuring performances from more than 25 underground acts, including Electric Eel Shock, moja, and Hystoic Vein. Tickets for the event sold out and the show was met with glowing reviews. Another reshuffling of the lineup brought the band to its current incarnation. The band has formed its own record label with plans to release an album in Japan, Taiwan, Europe, and the US in 2013, and is also currently planning performances in the US. Member Profiles Takuro Sugata (Gt / Vo / Key / etc.) Birthdate: 1984.12.18 Sugata first became familiar with rock music at a very young age, particularly his father's Beatles and Led Zeppelin albums. Listening to Nirvana in junior high school inspired him to take up songwriting, which earned him a major label contract at the age of 15, and eventually a release with Sony records when he was 19 years old. However, his experiences with the Japanese music industry left a bad taste in his mouth and he returned to the world of independent music. From then on, he has lived an ethos of self-creation and self-production that carries on to this day. Favorite artists: Nirvana / My Bloody Valentine / Spitz / Queens of the Stone Age / etc. Mai Kitade (Gt / Vo / Key / etc.) Birthdate: 1985.4.28 Starting with Blondie and Madonna during her junior high school years, Mai's interest in music turned to punk as a high school student upon hearing the seminal Japanese punk band The Stalin. At age 19, she joined a heavy rock band that eventually gained a dedication legion of fans, culminating with a performance in front of 2,000 people at a US music event. However, a difference of ideas led to her departure from the band, upon which she was invited by her close friend Sugata to join Astro Attack. Favorite artists: Madonna / Blondie / The Stalin / Queen Adreena / etc. Hideyuki Miyasako (Ba) Birthdate: 1987.9.19 Hideyuki spent his childhood years in a remote town so small that one one train came every hour, and he became interested in music because there was nothing else to do there. After graduating from high school, he relocated to Osaka and enrolled in a music school, then began performing with local punk bands as well as providing live support for other acts. It was through his work as the live bassist for Mai's previous band that he was invited to join Astro Attack. Favorite artists: The Strokes / Mutemath / Radiohead / L'Arc~en~Ciel / etc. Koji Shibano (Dr) Birthdate: 1989.7.22 Growing up near Osaka's Kansai International Airport, Koji was interested in foreign cultures from a very young age. In junior high school he began listening to American and British music and then began playing drums in high school. Following high school, he enrolled in the same music school as Hideyuki and they formed a band together. After building his experience on the local live circuit, he sought after a more worldwide experience, which brought him to Astro Attack.
