The Dusk Devils performing at the Avalon Theater in Hollywood, California.
The Dusk Devils play drivingly uptempo rockabilly, boogie-woogie, honky-tonking twanging & banging "American music." The band began as one person writing Bakersfield Sound-style honky-tonk tunes to get rid of heartaches. Then she turned to the more upbeat repertoire she's always loved & joined forces w/others, & now the band's adding originals - no heartache tunes, tho!
The Dusk Devils play for the joy of interpreting the tunes they love; to give the audience the best show possible; & to "bring forth the collective knowledge of those that came before" (Phil Alvin).
A more professional bio will come one day, but probably not. :) Band email: theduskdevils@yahoo.com ; a little more music: http://www.bakotopia.com/home/User/theduskdevils . In addition to The Dusk Devils, Jenny also does a one-woman rockabilly-punk act at times & recorded a little EP of it... Email if you're interested. Bassman Mark plays w/various acts around Bakersfield. Links to everyone follow!
"Ticklin' The Strings" by Sweet Hollywaiians Amazing Japanese hot string band playing 1920's, 30's, 40's style hawaiian, swing, calypso, blues, italian music and originals, featuring vintage instruments.3 songs with Robert Armstrong and Tony Marcus(from Robert Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders)
"The Sweet Hollywaiians have probably the best feel for this 20's music of any string band working today. They manage the rare feat of sounding relaxed even when their playing is hot, are top notch musicians with tasteful arrangements and a full, rich, warm sound.Plus, they have a nice gamut of tunes, from King Nawahi to Giovanni Vicari to Bobby Leecan. See them live, if you can, for an unforgettable experience. If you can't, buy their Cds!" ~ Terry Zwigoff

Charles Dickens began pasting labels on blaking pots. The tragedy of his first love penetrated the depths of his soul, and converted him into one of the world's truly great authors. That tragedy produced, first, David Copperfield, then a succession of other works that made this a richer and better world for all who read his books. Dissappointment over love affairs, generally has the effect of driving men to drink, and women to ruin; and this because most people never never learn the art of transmuting their strongest emotions into dreams of a constructive nature.
