The Earth Program is a post punk/indie/pop four-piece based out of Chicago, IL. Since their initial formation in September 2008, the Earth Program has been working diligently on an innovative cross-genre, multimedia project that incorporates music, film, and the framework for an illustrated web-comic that explores the universe of the characters in the Earth Program.
The Earth Program’s influences include ‘50s and ‘80s aesthetics (3D, synthesizers, fashion, and technology), The Adventures of Pete and Pete, The Twilight Zone, Pee-wee’s Playhouse, the Kids in the Hall, the Beatles, Nirvana, Pixies, Joy Division, Neutral Milk Hotel, Misfits, and DIY ethics.
Among their various endeavors, the band has performed over 35 shows in and around Chicago, including venues such as: Bottom Lounge, Abbey Pub, Elbo Room, and Viaduct Theatre. Having also appeared on a handful of local radio stations, including a live performance and interview on both WLUW 88.7 FM and Swing State Radio.
The debut album, “INVADE!” will be self-released through the band’s own DIY home-based label on December 1, 2009, Tastee Records. “INVADE!” showcases the band’s unique take on modern music, which the group refers to as "retro spooky space punk." “INVADE!” sets the tone for future things to come from the Earth Program universe.
