Il progetto The Ergot nasce all'inizio del 2008 dall'idea di alcuni studenti universitari fuori sede a Firenze, provenienti da precedenti esperienze musicali. Nel gennaio 2009,con l'entrata del cantante Eddie,si raggiunge una stabilità nella line up. La composizione è quasi immediata, e in pochi mesi, in Aprile del 2009 esce '' Anno Domini MMIX'', primo Demo-Ep, completamente scaricabile da diversi siti. I testi, scritti dalla bassista Clo, sono introspettivi e riguardano per lo più sensazioni e riflessioni personali. La musica invece, partendo da un 'idea doom metal, è andata poi incorporando altri elementi,fino ad arrivare ad una sorta di death - doom metal. Il gruppo è attualmente impegnato nella composizione del primo album - "Disagio Suite" - ed è alla ricerca di date per i prossimi mesi.

The project The Ergot was born at the beginning of 2008 from the idea of some students living in Florence, coming from previous musical experience. In January 2009, with the entry of the singer Eddie, the line-up becomes stable. The composition starts almost immediately, and in few months, exactly in April 2009, the first Demo-EP “Anno Domini MMIX” is out and is downloadable from different websites. The Texts, written by the bassist Clo, are introspective and mostly talk about personal feelings and thoughts. On the contrary music, initially based on a doom metal's idea, embedded other elements, arriving to a sort of death–doom metal. Currently the band is committed to the composition of her first album - “Disagio Suite” - and is searching shows for the following months.
