The Fabulous Filters were formed in 2002 out of a project by guitarist Claudio Sala and bass-guitarist Matteo Badellino, both hooked on fabulous 60’s beat music, but also on soul and garage.
Rearranging those different genres, the band found their own musical and aesthetic style, and started a tiring but continuous period of live performances in order to consolidate experience and fan base (who grow, appreciate and support the band) in the different clubs of several Northen-Italian towns.
The 2 demos recorded in 2003 (450 copies sold over one year of gigs) successfully took them to the 47th Italian Mod Gathering in Marina di Massa.
The first album of original tracks (The Fabulous Filters, self-produced) came out in 2004 and for its promotion the band organised a small tour in the North of Italy. The press was enthusiastic with its unmistakable sound and this lead them to several interviews with local newspapers and radio stations.
In 2007, after a short break, the Fabulous Filters completed their metamorphosis and they started eagerly to work with a new eccentric vocalist, Sebastiano Cugno. The band started working on new tracks and playing live. Their come-back was followed by articles and interviews with the local press and radio stations, thanks to the support of an extremely loyal following as well.
The band is appreciated abroad as well. In may 2008 they went on a 3-gig mini tour in London (Bardens Boudoir, Bloomsbury Bowling Lanes and Lark in the Park) which was incredibly successful and Little Seven (the guitarist of E – Bruce Springsteen’s Street Band) asked for a copy of their album, as he would like to circulate and broadcast their material on 2 American radios (Little Steven's Underground Garage di New York and the satellite Syrius radio).
In their years of activity, the band has played in different clubs in Northern Italy, in the area of Como (Ultimo Caffè, All’unaetrentacinquecirca, Rocksound Cafè, Caffè degli artisti, Aguaplano, Xanadu’, Spazio Renoir, Rainbow, Cantina del Circolo del libero pensiero), in the province of Milan (Sakhalin, Drome, Hitchcock cafè, Golden River Pub, Cantiere Delirio), arriving at the borders of Lombardia (jam Club di Mestre, Soultrain di Trento, Cavallo Goloso di Torino).
In July 2008 the band played at the Beat Festival in Verona where the enthusiasm of the amateurs at the festival will be the entry pass to the success of November. The 3 concerts in Florence, at the Viper Club and the historic Auditorium Flog, on the occasion of the eliminatory and the finale of the national Rock Contest (730 bands from all over Italy) were the diving boards to national success. The finale was broadcast on Controradio, an important and popular Florentian radio station.
The 4 Fab are now finishing their 2nd sought after album, soon to be officially presented, which collects the work and some new vibes of a group with a more and more absoring sound and a warmer and warmer public.
