Just us doing our thing....................! We just love the old timey/bluegrass songs, playing them and listening to them.    About The Ballachulish Hellhounds
Photobucket The Ballachulish Hellhounds were originally formed in the highlands of Scotland around 1988 by a collection of local musicians. They played only 2 gigs and shortly after The Hellhounds went their separate ways, until a chance meeting between 2 of the original founders Dochan MacMillan and Zander MacFarlane rekindled their passion for old timey music and cheap whisky. Thus the Hellhounds reformed as an acoustic bluegrass/country blues outfit, borrowing and stealing guest players along the way. The Hellhounds have been playing selected gigs around Scotland for the past 4yrs enthralling audiences with their free flowing, honest, entertaining, good-time mayhem! The Hellhounds are on your trail! 2007 saw The Hellhounds playing Glasgow's famous Free Candy Sessions, The North Country Ramble Festival in Cannich, Cottiers Theatre, Glasgow, The Wickerman Festival, Dumfries and Galloway, The Tartan Heart Fringe Festival, The Edinburgh Festival, Creiff and Barfly, Glasgow supporting The Hackensaw Boys. In 2008 The Hellhounds played Nice n Sleazys (electric), headline shows at Stripped Bare @ The Vale and The Free Candy Sessions in Glasgow. We also played 2 live sessions on Sunny Govan Switchback Radio and took part in the inaugural Subway Sessions on Glasgows Underground. The summer of 2008 saw the Hounds play with Scottish Folk Hero's The Tannahill Weavers @ The Paisley Arts Centre on 27th June, The Tartan Heart Fringe Festival @ The Twa Tams, Perth and a rocking gig @ The Belladrum Festival in August. A short Scottish tour through from Glasgow to Inverness with Glencoe inbetween completed our summer shenanigans, happy days. In 2009, we have played numerous gigs in and around Glasgow, a trip to Hootenay's Inverness, 2 headlining gigs The Grand Old Opry and a memorable gig in The Glasshouse @ The Southside Festival Over the summer of 2009 we will be played The West End Festival, Glasgow(twice), a rocking gig at the Belladrum Festival (see vids),a support slot on the main stage at The Kilmarnock Edition Festival supporting The Saw Doctors and Seth Lakeman @ Dean Castle on Aug 9th 2009. The Hellhounds can be contacted for gigs at dochan01@yahoo.co.uk Give us a call, we wont bite...............well maybe! The songs on this myspace were recorded at The Free Candy Sessions, Glasgow in June 2007 and at Creaky Chair Studios, Glasgow in April 2009. We are currently recording a our as yet untitled debut album set for release in Feb/March 2010 Keep on keeping on............WOOF!! Hello, after an unfortunate hiatus, the reasons for which are probably best not gone into here, we finally have some new music on the AUK MySpace site. For your listening pleasure this month we offer Nathan Oliver, Conrad Ford, the irrepressible Todd Snider and the delightful Beccy Owen. Don't forget too, for those of you within striking distance of Leicester, Electric Dustbowl 2 on 19 September.
