Welcome to the Official JAKE CLAYTON Myspace page!
JAKE CLAYTON is a self-taught multi-instrumentalist with a list of playable instruments longer than the 22 years of his age. Considering fiddle to be his primary instrument, Jake also plays piano, dobro, banjo, lap steel, mandolin, pedal steel guitar, bass, and drums. In total, JAKE plays 27 different instruments, which also include a list of orchestral instruments such as the viola, cello, and stand-up bass. Further, much like his ability to play multiple instruments, Jake plays multiple styles as well. Whether it be country, bluegrass, blues, classical, Dixie-Land, or Big Band Swing, Jake’s undeniable natural talent for music, and his cheerful, energetic showmanship shine through in every performance. Over the past 4 years, Jake has been steadily establishing himself as a top player in the music industry by performing with numerous acts throughout the United States. From legendary artists, to modern chart toppers, to various local and regional bands, Jake has made music his job.
Although Jake has played with many different artists, recently he can most often be found playing with one of three bands. First, Jake is currently working for Valory Music Group Recording Artist, Jimmy Wayne. Jimmy has just released his sophomore CD titled, "Do You Believe Me Now" which debuted at 4 on the Billboard Country Charts. Further, Jimmy's first single from the CD climbed the charts to obtain the 1 position. Jake has been seen performing with Jimmy on CMT, GAC, live on the Jerry Lewis Telethon, and various other televised programs. Jake is now touring with Jimmy playing venues all over the country. Secondly, for the past year, Jake has been performing with legendary country music artist Tanya Tucker. Tanya has scored over 30 chart toping hits throughout her career and is recognized as one of country's GREATS! In his downtime, Jake travels back to his hometown area to play traditional bluegrass with Iron Weed, a group based out of Columbia, Missouri. Iron Weed performs at alot of hometown venues and community functions in Mid-Missouri, and can often be caught performing live on the regional NBC station KOMU TV. Recently, Iron Weed was awarded the opportunity to travel to China and perform in multiple venues and on several television shows throughout the country. These performances included an appearance on CC TV’s equivalent to America’s, “The Tonight Show”, a performance at the legendary Cinderella club in Jinan, and a very rare opportunity of playing for the Daoist monks in Laoshan China!
Outside of live performances, Jake spends his spare time with music as his main focus in life. Jake records and produces music with his own recording gear.
Jake has a steady performance schedule and there’s no telling which instrument you’ll catch him playing, so keep your eye on the schedule because he is sure to be in your area sometime in the near future. If you are interested in booking Jake’s solo performance, or to have him sit in with your band, either contact Regina Clayton at (573) 254-3284 or message Jake here on myspace!
