J Brothers The catch phrase "Pasaway" has recently been added to Pinoy pop culture lingo. Blame it (or some may thank them for it) on the J Brothers. This ultra-catchy ditty was a monster sing-along hit last year which the band took as an indication that their loyal following and new fans are now ready to embrace their evolving sound. a>
Kuro-Kuro Nina Kuya, the J Brothers' latest album released under Ballyhoo Records is a revelation, unleashing the band's passion to explore different types and styles of music - running the gamut of reggae, alternative, bubble gum pop, and classic rock. These may seem like a mumbo-jumbo of genres, yet the J Brothers have this knack of pulling their sound together into the catchy, hook-laden pop umbrella that has endeared them to their legions of fans over the years. Being a seasoned live band performer here and abroad, the J Brothers have also taken cue from audiences as to what type of music brings the best out of them. The first single culled from this album is "Paligoy-Ligoy", a track that is fast-gaining airplay and requests from mainstream pop radio. Its catchy and rousing beat, along with its good-humored take on women's fickle-mindedness and beating-around-the-bush demands, is guaranteed to give listeners that last-song-syndrome.a>
The music video of "Paligoy-Ligoy", directed by Ann Angala, is equally engaging. The video's storyline revolves around their transformation from cartoon charters of themselves to human form, and the playful campus antics of Jim, on lead vocals, in order to get the attention of the girl he likes. The video also showcases the J Brothers' talent as comic illustration artists, a profession they still manage to squeeze into their grueling gig skeds here and abroad.a>
