Originally from Brookhaven MS, he started playing in a rock band in the mid sixties. After a tour of Vietnam, he came home and started mixing sound for several road bands. During this time he enrolled in college where he studied television, film making, and creative writing.
After graduating from USM, he then got married, moved to Texas, trained horses and raised a son. In the early nineties he started working in bands again and moved back to Mississippi in 1996 and in 1997 formed the Juvenators. He co-produced all 3 Juvenator cds, writing or co-writing most of the songs. He
appeared in the TV movie "The Last of the Mississippi Jukes" filmed at the famous Subway Lounge and also wrote 3 songs for the movie "Oh, Mr. Faulkner Do You Write?" A plaster bust of his face is on permanent display at Delta State University along with many other noted blues men in a series entitled "Cast in Blues" by Sharon McConnell. He lives in Belhaven.
Big Juv dicided to release a solo album in 2009. On "Bottle Tree" he freely mixes blues, gospel, and country to paint an interesting portrait of contemporary Southern cultural landscape.
Bob "Byrd" Lovell Guitar, Slide and Vocals
First started playing music at the ripe old age of fourteen or fifteen, in 1964 or so, first playing rock and then the blues, after listening to his sisters Ray Charles and BB King records, which of course you can hear those influences and others such as Albert King, Dewayne Allman, also a little Roy Buchanan and Ry Cooder if you listen closely.
Before becoming one of the original Juvenators, he had played with several south Mississippi bands such as Highway 51 and has traveled as far as Canada playing the blues. He wrote or co-wrote songs on all 3 Juvenators cds. He is from McComb, Ms.
George "Famous" Vance Bass
After first playing the snare drum in Junior High marching band and then trying to learn the guitar on my own, he was introduced to bass guitar by a friend who he also bought an old used bass from.
Soon after taking lessons at the Jackson school of music and from other local music teachers/musicians. First played blues, then old rock, and after having played in several 60’s bands, R&B and blues bands he wound up as the original bass player in the Juvenators! He resides in Pearl, MS.
