The Lap Steel Duo bridges generational and stylistic divides with beautiful melodies, haunting arrangements, and monster chops reigned into service of the song. Mike Weber brings a love, in equal measure, of progressive, psychedelic, and popular music that is backed by years of playing. As guitarist for Blue Dot, he wowed dozens of enthusiastic fans in local music venues throughout the greater Long Beach area. In Church Group, he discovered the simple joy of the duo. LSD is the culmination of that discovery.
Aaron L. Archambault was born into a musical family. Growing up he soaked up folk music, along with jazz, classical, and a wide variety of popular music. The night he joined Blue Dot he met Mike Weber. It was at that time that they discovered their shared love of Hawaiian music, and specifically the lap steel guitar. During the next months Aaron joined the avant arte ensemble, Squeak Toy, which simultaneously terrified and amazed audiences throughout Long Beach and North Orange County.
Aaron plays a vintage Rickenbacker, and Mike a Fender ‘White.’ After some informal jams, they began developing material, and the Lap Steel Duo was born.
Recordings are in progress, and shows will soon be announced. Stay tuned for further details!
Aaron- I wanted to put this on your personal MySpace page, but it said it disables HTML coments, so... I'm not really sure what that all means! ;-)... Anyway, check out these Hawaiian Long Beach events:
Sounded great at Portfolio! You guys are getting better all the time. Intonation's tough to sync on those things but you nailed it last night!! BIG LOVE TO LSD!!!!
Aaaaaah... the sweet sounds of L.S.D. coming through the ceiling! Hooray for free concerts! :) Seriously -- sounding better and better... can't wait to see/play with you guys live!!! love, Carrie/Good Citizen
btw, new fave song: the one where Aaron is keeping the beat by tapping on the body of the Rickenbacher. Super cool. Although Manos -- still good for some goosebumps!! Love you guys!!
Manos, thee hands of fate, delivered a sublime martini the size of a LARGE HOVERING FLYING SAUCER last night and rocketed my world, propelling me to an outer galaxy where I 'heard' visions and 'gazed upon' strange aural eminations not unlike the hallucinatory experience of a substance known in our own universe as Lysergic acid diethylamide, an aural landscape eminating in the form of two mad hipster saints, playing lap steel guitars, under the guise of 'LSD'; a band of sublime, inspired 'colors' of sound....
Manos, thee hands of fate, predicted this supersonic hayride into the depths of inner space....
Thanks so much, guys, for having nerves of steel, knocking the ball out of the park, and sliding into home. Baseball metaphors aside, you did a great job, and the crowd loved every minute!
WICKED WICKED WICKED cool. I love 'Manos.' My favorite so far. You guys rock!! All your fans should be jealous of me, because I get free concerts every week. :)
Hey Aaron this is awesome man. You guys are gonna have to do some lap steel on our next recording (whenever that may be). I love Hawaiian music too! Daniel
No Thank You Aaron! The memorial show was a success because really nice people like yourself came out. It was very nice to see you there. Happy Holidays and all the best for the new year! dafni
