It all began in a bedroom; in a decaying apartment in Montreal. The bedroom was a double room, perhaps having been at one time a dining room or large salon. No matter. In this bedroom coalesced the Lovely Feathers; a handful of friends who decided to play some informal shows on the campus of Mcgill university. Steadily, their impromptu gatherings increased in popularity, and flourished into larger shows at venues around the city. And things for TLF were going well and nicely.
And one day, they were approached; an approach that resulted in a series of both interconnected and tangential events, which led them to where they are today.
Some of these events are as follows:
Shortly after they were approached, they signed with Equator Records.
Shortly after signing with Equator Records, they embarked on a sixty-three day North American Tour opening for METRIC in the autumn of 2005.
Shortly after this tour, in April of 2006, they released their album, Hind Hind Legs, in stores across Canada and the US, produced by their new friend Jimmy Shaw, of Metric, and their producer, engineer, and A&R representative of yore, Drew Malamud .
After this, they proceeded with North American tours, accompanying the likes of Man Man, Dr. Dog, and the Spinto band. And in the autumn of 2006, they thought it proper to headline their own North American tour.
Amidst all this, they played shows with Islands, Tokyo Police Club, The Sounds, The Cribs, Tapes n' Tapes, and The Most Serene Republic. They also appeared at SXSW, NXNE, Pop Montreal, and on MTV Live; and even had their songs licensed on the television shows "One Tree Hill" and "The Adrenaline Project".
And so it goes to where they are today: The Lovely Feathers, several years finer, are pleased to announce the fall 2008 release of their new album, Scherezadian. It will be followed by a respectful and pleasant tour of North America.
