The Lowdowns began around 1992 in Orange County,CA by singer Brian Girton. The band continues today in San Francisco/Bay Area with numerous Rock-n-Roll mercenaries including members from SWINGIN' UTTERS, TIGER ARMY, WORKIN' STIFFS, FANG,The NIGHT CRAWLERS, SQUAT, The Grannie's/Black Furies, The SORE THUMBS, The STITHCES, HOLLYWOOD HATE, RICHMOND SLUTS, RESISTELEROS, BIG MIDNIGHT, LOS CERVECEROS, RADIO REELERS, WHITE TRASH DEBUTANTES, CANDY FROM STRANGERS and The SCRAMBLERS. They have put out a bunch of releases since '92 that are hard to find on SIDE ONE,DISASTER,JUNK,IFA,and FLAT. The new line-up started with Brian and Dave getting back together after thier stint together in another band. Sharing the "Behind the Orange Curtain" upbringing in Costa Mesa/Newport, they made their separate ways to hook-up in SF when the original Lowdowns where kickin' it off in the early 90's. Time pasted and they decided they loved playing music together and wanted to give The Lowdowns the longevity the music deserves, write some more and continue the garage rock sound this band truely admires.
