The Ludvico Treatment began in 2002 as a transatlantic collaboration between Adam Veenendaal (Canada) and Alex Kennard (UK). Following a shelved EP in 2005 and a number of lineup changes, the band self-released their debut album "Romanticism" in 2007.
The music on Romanticism features a blend of swirling guitars and reverb-tinged vocals taking cues from the shoegaze era of Creation records with a louder rhythm section. A review from music blog Kaini Industries says "Romanticism doesn’t just stay in one place like most ripoff shoegaze bands do. It explores the nooks and crannies of the genre better than any other shoegaze album I have ever encountered, and I have encountered many."
In 2005 Adam took on The Ludvico Treatment as a solo project and he produced, mixed and mastered the debut album over the following two years. A live incarnation of the band made its debut in April 2007 with the CD release of Romanticism following shortly thereafter. The live band is in the midst of playing shows and making impromptu appearances in pet stores around the country.
ha! nice, even better. I used to cover cupid come solo, so I'm always stoked on mbv covers....almost as good as slowdive covers. I haven't heard monster movie yet, but I've heard good things, so I'll have to check them out.
wicked, yeah it'd be great to play with you guys. I don't know when we'll be back out west, but I'll shoot you a message when we do....anyone who covers slowdive is good in my books.
The Ludvico Treatment gives me raging boners. This is not a compliment as they have a damaging effect on my pants. I am now down to a single pair, which places a great deal of pressure on it. Either stop giving me boners or buy me some pants.
I have many ornaments and knick knacks I have collected from my travels abroad that I shall place in your possession in exchange for this wonderful music-Col. Hortpentz Earnshaw
