Me, myself and I. I like many things, although I rarely like anything to the point where I will leave the house to pursue it. I'm quite lazy. I like films, comics, open water, books, nice smiles, quiet pubs, pornography, cigarettes. The usual. I support Spurs. Not sure if that's an interest or merely a cosmic curse.
Music
Kevin Johansen, Adam Green, Air, Leonard Cohen, Lou Reed, Frank Sinatra, Baby Bird, Red House Painters, Cat Power, Gotan Project, Johnny Cash. In my younger days I was a big fan of the Manic Street Preachers. Lots of random pop songs. Oh you know... does it really matter? Really? I could quite happily listen to the Bee Gees all day.
Movies
The Apartment, The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp, Rushmore, Anchorman, The Sting, Duck Soup. I used to watch the same films over and over, until I got bored of them. Nowadays I'd rather see something new.
Television
The Prisoner, Naruto, Death Note, University Challenge, The Great British Menu. And loads of other crap.
Books
A Year in the life of The Man Who Fell Asleep by Greg Stekelman aka me, Raymond Chandler, Isaac Asimov, David Mitchell, Haruki Murakami, Irwin Shaw, Michael Dibden, Borges, science fiction, James Ellroy, Donna Tartt. Oh and lots more. I read books quickly and then forget about them.
I used to love comics. I guess I still do. Munoz and Sampayo, Milo Manara, Marc Silvestri, Grant Morrisson, Walt Simonson, Los Bros Hernandez, Rick Leonardi, David Mazzuchelli, Frank Miller, Mike Mignola... lots more who I can't remember off the top of my head.
Heroes
Woody Allen, for a few days back in the 1970s. Lots of comic artists.
About me:
My name is Greg Stekelman. I was born in 1975.
Londoner, short, novelist, illustrator, smoker, whinger.
I am the brains behind the world-famous themanwhofellasleep website and the author of "A Year in the Life of TheManWhoFellAsleep".
What the critics have to say about the book:
"This excellent, odd, fantastical diary offers a curious combination of dreams, London journeys, and dead-pan humour…recommended." – Time Out London
"A surreal, morbidly entertaining journal/novel" - Zoo Magazine
"...One of the most imaginative and enjoyable diaries since Brian Eno's A Year With Swollen Appendices... Stekelman is a Woody Allen for the Myspace generation." – Vice Magazine
"A Year in the Life of The Man Who Fell Asleep is probably the most original book you’ll pick up in a while. It’s hard to explain, so just read it." – LCC Magazine

Who I'd like to meet: Someone nice. Or maybe Martin Jol. I do like Martin. And I'd quite like to meet the "people of power". You know... the big cheeses. The people who make the big decisions. I wouldn't hector them or throw eggs. I'd just like a chat.
thank you very much for your reply, its good to know that there are nice people in the world who reply to people's "inspired by you-esque" messages.i hope you find your inspiration soon.
Dear Mr Stekelman After you added me as a companion I was reminded just how much I enjoyed reading A Year in the Life of... and I prized it from my dusty book case. I read it for the first time exactly this time last year and found it a bit spooky that you came along on myspace, almost like a gentle reminder to say 'read that f**king book again already its good', so I am currently doing that and may make it my goal to read it at exactly the same time every year to satisfy my addictive behaviour. I would like to say thank you for writing the book and please dont write any more if its not gonna be as good as that.
Just finished reading your book. I loved it, though one thing I didn't quite understand is why Julie Birchall's name was in a bigger font than yours. Hope you bring out another book soon.
Hello Greg, thanks for the bulletin.Bought your book already for Gareth's birthday last year.He thought it was so funny...it made him cry... ;-) Shahny x
Thank you. It's almost certain that we will have great critical success, but fail to crack the t-shirt market which is filled with rubbish and rubbish. Just like Arrested Development, but with t-shirts instead of sitcoms.
hey greg
i was messing around with the invisibilia technique™ and stumbled across a nice application of it. i accidently left the original pic in for some items of clothing and it gives a nice sense of depth.
anyway, thought i would share.
