About me:

The original inspiration for the Mercury came not from the Roman god, but from the element that appears on the periodic chart as Hg. The idea originated from "quicksilver," in trying to create a location that was creatively fluid, conceptually flexible, and most of all, comfortable. The element Mercury was well known in ancient times and it was an important chemical for medieval alchemists, suspected of being an element of which all matter is made from. This soon led from the element Hg to the Roman god Mercury, also known as Hermes, by the Greeks. Mercury is not only the messenger of the Pantheon, but is also the god of the unexpected, of luck, coincidence, and synchronicity. The Romans would comment that Mercury has entered our midst, whenever sudden inspiration or enlightenment arises.

These are the guiding concepts of our establishment, and in essence our mission statement that lies within. We hope to perpetuate a space where creative fluidity, serendipity, and of course the unexpected are commonplace.
